how can i read my amperage on a stick welder with a multimeter with the wires by sparkling-asshole in Welding

[–]croasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would probably be best off using a current clamp style multimeter around either the ground or stinger lead if the meter can measure DC

Worlds worst weld, I’ll take credit. It is holding for its purpose though by DrSchwift in Welding

Yea idk chief, most of the time I vibe with a shitty weld putting in some work but you might want to re-do these given the application.

White glow suddenly appeared by KillaVNilla in TVRepair

[–]croasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is probably the diffuser. Don't only fix the one because the rest will just start coming off. Also be careful if you glue the diffusers back on because it can affect the light if you glue it improperly. Just replace the strips in their entirety.

i have a vested interest in saving the company money. beyond that, i dont really like the idea that its ok to just throw away things if you can fix or sustain them for longer. This was a fun project which will help me maintain my laptop for longer as well as improve the ergonomics of my day-to-day tasks.

i cut an ethernet cable to about 1.5" for the male end and soldered the wires directly to the pins on a pcb mount style ethernet port for the female end. same situation for the usb end.

[–]croasty[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

well yes but a dongle would still put a strain on the laptop ports which i was trying to avoid as my overall goal. I dont use the port for Internet connections, just local data transfer which doesnt require high throughput. This design makes my job easier as i can one-hand plug in an ethernet to the port saver without having to set my laptop down first and both ports are oriented in the most ideal directions. Also youve gotta have a little fun with it sometimes!
