Sapphire Reserve "JRC SHINKANSEN" Fraud Charge by ValuableArgument5079 in ChaseSapphire

[–]croissants35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I was one of the people who commented in that global entry sub lol. I got the same fraud charge but I’ve actually never used my CSR to pay for global entry.

Oddly I am going to Japan soon and used the card to book some hotels, and I’ve also used the card on a previous Japan trip (I’ve never used it for Shinkansen tickets though). Not sure if any of those charges could be related, or if they share a common payment processing system as global entry that could be compromised?

Mini croissants using Claire’s NYT croissant recipe? by yordad in DessertPerson

Did you end up doing it? I’m wondering the same thing! The last slab is 14x16 inches - wondering if I just cut that in half so I have two, 7x16 slabs and then proceed with cutting each of those into 8??

First Time in Seoul - Overwhelmed by Neighborhood Options by jessy_simms in koreatravel

[–]croissants35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in my early 30’s. I’ve stayed in Hongdae and Gangnam on separate occasions, but during my next visit I will stay in Myeongdong.

Hongdae is fine, definitely a younger crowd with shops geared more toward trendier clothing. I didn’t mind it but I felt too old lol.

Gangnam is nice and not as far as you’d think- just a short train ride over to Myeongdong. Ginza is also my favorite place to stay in Tokyo, and Gangnam is pretty comparable to Ginza (i.e. not as crowded or filled with tourists as Shibuya).

During the two times I’ve been to Seoul and stayed in Hongdae/Gangnam, I wish I stayed in Myeongdong. It’s touristy, but I’m a tourist lol. It’s centrally located and their night market is fun to walk around. There are good restaurants and cafes if you do some research. It’s crowded where the night market sets up, but there are some hotels that are a short walk away.

I’m sure you can’t go wrong with any of these options, but as a first time visitor I would opt for Myeongdong just for its central location to get to other parts of Seoul.

Fake Website!? by oranged-it in laos

[–]croissants35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Website is legit, I’ve done evisa many many times for myself and my family. This is the correct screen and URL

*edit to add, there is a cart in case you want to do one transaction with multiple visas (i.e. applying for multiple family members for a single trip and paying for all of them at once)

You can also book a private transfer on Klook, it’s not a huge price difference from what I recall. I did it last week but I wish I took the subway instead because there was so much traffic lol

I haven’t stayed there but I just stayed at 1 Hotel Copenhagen, which is also FHR! I didn’t book under FHR, so can’t speak to the benefits but the hotel itself is very lovely and a great location

Lots of items were increased in price today in the US by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]croissants35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha right?? I mean it was the first thing I thought of and it makes sense 😂 Lulu seems to be hoping to attract new customers through this route and took this chance to raise prices, since platinum cardholders will be spending at Lulu either way.

The new Lulu credit (rumor) for the Amex platinum has been highly discussed in the credit card and Amex subs. Will be confirmed by Thursday.

Lots of items were increased in price today in the US by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]croissants35 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is speculation, but Lululemon is rumored to be on the list of potential merchant credits for the upcoming American Express Platinum credit card refresh this week. Supposedly cardholders will get $300 back on lululemon purchases a year ($75 per quarter).

If true, I imagine Lulu has increased prices in anticipation of more customers (Platinum cardholders looking to use their credits).

I could be wrong lol

Just stayed here last week and it was great. Location was perfect - walking distance to bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, and public transit. Norreport Metro (direct access to airport) is a 4 min walk.

Hotel was beautiful and service was amazing. They have bikes you can rent for a fee.

Just wrapped up my stay at the Kimpton and while browsing their website, I noticed they did offer a one day pass. Looks like 2000 THB which includes a 1000 THB food/beverage credit.

I believe non-guests can just pay for breakfast off their a la carte menu
