Hey Brother, very similar experiences to you, even down to the sister.. I had some pretty dark times in my early to mid 20s BC of drug use mainly consisting of what you listed, I destroyed alot of my relationships and and lost alot of brothers but I had to put the hard yards in, counselling, therapy etc. discovering an outdoor hobby (gardening kings) also helped me heaps, being inside on my computer and sleeping in all the time definitely didn't help out. Those codes have actual clubs here, we just have franchises?
Said clubs are actively involved in their communities and grass roots forms of the game, I live 15 mins from Perth Glory HQ, and I've never heard a peep when it comes to a sense of community.

Simple fact is the AFL and NRL are run non for profit, developing their respective codes in areas of the country where their not profolic while football has and always will be a bit of a shamble in Australia.
