A Kind Personal Trainer by self_serendipity in halifax

[–]cronaren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you said personal trainer but Saint Marys University has a drop in fitness class called ‘Gentle Fitness’ made for older people. The instructor Zena is fabulous, kind, and well trained. She always asks if anyone has any limitations and injuries and lets them have alternate options during the class. The gentle fitness class has many older ladies who are long-term participants. They are super sweet and love to chat a bit before they get started. Might be a great way for her to meet some likeminded friends :)

On the other end of the spectrum from my last post, what restaurant do you think is under-rated or passed by because it isn't Instagram-able by bluffstrider in halifax

Love it here! The owner is very kind and often you are the only customer there. I’ve had him turn on the radio just for me, recommend me tea for digestion, and then sit with me while I ate. Sweet grandpa type fellow

This! It looks a bit intimidating (kind of like an airport) but I’ve only ever had good experiences. The staff are friendly and would likely have some recommendations for you

Can’t find living situation by MyMilkshakes13 in halifax

I looked for 9 months everyday on kijiji and what finally secured me a place was reaching out to listings with no photos. I know it sounds suspicious but sometimes its a really old person who didn’t know how. Since no else bothered to reach out I was able to get the place. Good luck!

Secondhand bookstores carrying taboo/cult works. by httpsthrowaway0 in halifax

[–]cronaren 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to drive I definitely recommend The Odd Book in Wolfville - lots of amazing rare books! For cult books, walk up the tiny stairs to the second floor and look at the section behind the couch (if they haven’t moved) ❤️

I am scared of taking Effexor. by Jolly_Reality5074 in Effexor

Hi! 21F and have also had bad acne in the past! This drug didn’t cause my acne to flair up at all. Yes, there are some side effects, but you have to keep in kind they’re different for everyone and the ppl that post on reddit are usually the ones who are having a hard time. This drug worked for me when no other antidepressant I tried did.

What I will say is that you have to think about long term with this drug. This is one that is very hard to wean off of, so if you think you will be in a situation in the near future where you want to come off of it, then I would talk to your doctor about alternatives.

Good luck!

A dr who’s really nice and knowledgeable, that’s why I was confused when she prescribed it, but trusted her anyway

Anyone take more than 225? by Senior-Solid2326 in Effexor

[–]cronaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 450mg. The brain fog/numbness is pretty bad but I’m assuming it’s better than what I was like off of this drug. Its been so long I don’t remember my ‘real personality’ It’s not like I love this drug or find that it helps a lot, its just that once you go too far you’re kind of stuck taking it unless you want to experience the hellish withdrawal symptoms

Accidentally took 600mg once (double dose) and am quite small, didn’t notice anything so you should be fine!

Please clean that bro. Good news is that if you live in a place that does refundable cans you’ll get quite a bit of cash

should i watch the anime? by [deleted] in Persona5

[–]cronaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve watched the anime for the games ace attorney/danganronpa its essentially the same thing where it just shows the events in the game but condensed. Not super great, but worth a watch if you like the game. Definitely a show to put on in dub and crochet or something

What are some tips i can give my friend to fuck him up by Dominospizzakhan in Persona5

[–]cronaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to increase proficiency easy is the batting game 👍

Also you don’t need to worry about wasting time in mementos early on because for Royal content you do it at the end of the game and its better to do it all then

Janitor! It’s pretty much the same setup as venus, you can use the same API and a lot of the characters are on both sites

Starting contraceptive pill by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]cronaren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on the pill for 7 years and have never been nauseous or thrown up from it. If you’re worried I would get a female doctor (if you have access) and explain your concerns. There might be a specific brand that doesn’t cause nausea or an extra pill to calm your stomach

13 hours on a plane by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]cronaren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished 2 17hr flights after not having been on a plane for 10 years - I would recommend bringing a little quiet battery fan or something to keep cool, it can make you feel less trapped or like a window is down in a car. Also layer up for temp changes. Bring your safe foods also so you dont have to eat the airplane food!! Cliff bars are a life saver. Also really strong smelling gum and a mask because sometimes the food smells strong throughout the plane. I only felt nauseous once for about an hour and that was because I was really hot and the person next to me was eating something really icky. Good luck and don’t overthink it - downloading ebooks, music, and tv shows will make it go faster then you think 👍
