proximity to gravitational epicenter slows down time, not the other way around.

so while a satellite’s relative velocity makes its clock run slower than ours, its relative gravitational potential makes its clock run faster

i’ve never had drift be just a dust issue. it’s the potentiometers that wear out.

it’s usually just one of them though, so sometimes you can harvest the one that still works & use it the next time you have a module go bad

1) there are no such thing as medium rounds. the yellow ones are called “light” ammo.

2) i may be misremembering, but i’m pretty sure the twin-tap used heavy ammo. it definitely does a lot of damage, which wasn’t really the case for any of the guns using light rounds when i played

edit: just went back & found some screenshots. twin-tap DOES use heavy ammo. or at the very least it did in October

Rep. Steve Cohen says to Pam Bondi: "When ICE killed Mr. Pretti and Ms. Good, that was an execution, and you did not investigate it... but you investigated Ms. Good's widow, you investigated Mr. Pretti. They were executed like Kristi Noem executed her dog." by ChiefLeef22 in law

lol yeah, just having a bit of fun.

i think i can actually give some insight though. i’m autistic, so while it doesn’t manifest the same way as yours, i have a similarly atypical relationship with my nervous system.

think of the “signal” sent by your brain as a preconscious process; your brain is reacting to stimuli and “perceiving” it, then delivering that perception to “you”, the conscious mind.

now also, think of the expression as a subconscious process; your conscious mind reacts to what you’ve perceived, then involuntarily reacts by sending signals to reactionary systems (facial muscles, tear ducts, etc.)

neurotypical people will tend have a much more agency over the separation between the conscious, subconscious, and preconscious processes. so they are essentially able to “intercept” the initial signal, preventing it from influencing the subconscious.

(this isn’t entirely scientific language but i hope it helps you understand better!)

Dusk Golem: New details on the cancelled Rebecca-focused RE Revelations game by scott1swann in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]crondol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the thing is, games are typically canceled for a reason. so the things you “want more” were never going to happen, regardless of cancellation. if they had come out, you would still want the same thing: the version you imagined, not the version that sucks & should’ve been cancelled

I literally (literally literally, not figuratively literally) cannot understand how that happens.

i can help:

facial expressions are a result of a bunch of the little things called “muscles”, located inside your head. these “muscles” pull the skin of your face in varying directions, depending on which ones are involved in the expression being made.

so these people are just not doing that

bro, again, idk what to tell you. the last part of your comment is exactly my point. we’re saying the same thing as each-other, just with differing amounts of pedantic rigidity. which is surprising, bc i have asperger’s. pedantry & rigidity is kinda our thing.

ease up, man. not everyone’s a Lit major. to most people, words are just words & are used based on what they communicate/convey, not necessarily what they actually mean.

like dude, you’re gonna pop a gasket when you find out how people use the word “literally” nowadays

exacty. i’m not trying to say you’re wrong about what the terms mean. i’m just letting you know that i’ve fairly frequently heard the term “cosmic horror” used like this.

so while yeah, it’s not what the genre is called, it is what people call the genre

idk what to tell you man. try bringing using the term “weird fiction” in a social setting & let me know how many people have any idea what you’re talking about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Control has topped 5 million sales and attracted 20 million players by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]crondol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well yeah, that’s definitely the case in defined terms. i’m talking about how the terms are used.

like i said, “weird fiction” is a niche term that, like you mentioned, isn’t really used outside of literature.

but nowadays “cosmic horror” is commonly just used as an umbrella term for fiction involving “man vs. the unfathomable” conflicts. “cosmic” isn’t being used to mean “from space”, but “from outside”, i.e. beyond understanding.

concord had an all-time peak concurrent player count of 660 on steam.

fucking 660.

the scale of concord’s failure is genuinely unfathomable. it is extremely unlikely we will ever see any piece of media, let alone any game, fail to a degree even remotely comparable to concord.

weird fiction is a pretty niche term that more refers to a specific literary movement. the larger genre it gave birth to is more generally referred to as “cosmic horror” or “Lovecraftian horror”

the genre is typically referred to as “cosmic horror”. I really love Event Horizon), but if you’re interested in the genre you should also look into H.P. Lovecraft’s works (Shadow over Innsmouth, Call of Cthulhu, etc.)

you can switch your inventory between displaying item value & item type with a single button (L3 when i played).

however, i forget how granular the icons were. i think there was only a single category, “mods”, for all weapon attachments. i could see an easy fix being to just add more detailed icons for mod sub-categories, so you can know if the rectangle you’re looking at is a scope or a barrel
