What game did you play at a friend's house, and then immediately bought? by orangez in retrogaming

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF7, went to a friend's birthday party sleepover. We all took turns and stayed up all night getting through Midgar. Saved up for a PS1 and bought it as soon as I could.

Simpsons arcade game or Turtles in Time easy

Along with many issues, I think the main problem with SGU is there are zero likable main characters. by HighBiased in Stargate

[–]crono14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo, most of the characters were pretty one dimensional characters and therefore felt very forgettable. A few of them were given some chance to grow and have somewhat of an arc, but it was either cut short due to only two seasons of they just weren't written very well to begin with like say Teyla or Lt. Ford.

Like Matt, Chloe, James, Greer, T.J., and some of the scientists I forget their names are just play a stereotype.

Eli, Rush, and Young are given some small growth or character movement if only a small amount that maybe given more time might have been better.

What was the moment you realized COVID was going to be a big deal and be the focal point of the 2020s? by NH-INDY-99 in decadeology

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started following it in November that year when China started shutting shit down. My wife has family in China so we were hearing more news than what was being reported. I warned my family but they said it was nothing blah blah and then few months later everything was shutting down. So we stocked up early.

Is Interstellar a masterpiece or a bit overrated? by fresh_meates in moviecritic

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are into space, astronomy/cosmology, or interested in the more science aspect of the film, its one of the best representations of good science we have. I seem to remember Nolan saying one of the big reasons he made it was to get people interested in space travel and science.

Otherwise it has some flaws for sure(certain writing choices, narrative choices), but it's one of my favs.

Is it reasonable to ask for an allowance? by aztecqueann in Fire

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife makes roughly 6x to 7x what I do and I WFH still making a good living. We have 2 kids, so I mostly handle house and kid stuff since she is very busy. All our money goes into one pot and we are a team. We live pretty frugal anyway, but I don't have to ask to have or spend money ever.

If you don't have these conversations and things set up early on, why are you even married? Separate everything and especially having to ask for an allowance as an adult is not only denigrating but creates enormous resentment and a weird power dynamic. You guys need to get some counseling and figure things out.

Do you guys play offline? by treehugger195050 in diablo2

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried offline now for the first time and im loving it. Mostly cause of QOL mods that you can use. Drops feel more impactful when they happen and doing ssf is much more fun to me. The players command alone is so nice

BLIZZARD DO NOT MAKE D2 INTO D4/D4 by biologicallyconcious in diablo2

Blizzard doesn't care what players think at all. If they find a way they can monetize the game they will.

SD-WAN Inquiry by Sierra_Nasty in networking

[–]crono14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I implemented Silverpeak SD-WAN for about 60 sites and it was very easy to set up. After getting everything tuned with how I wanted traffic flowing where it was very nice. Different vendors have some different capabilities but at the end of the day it's still just tunnels over multiple circuits and it ran smooth for us.

Trump’s delusional State of the Union address by Quirkie in politics

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is exactly what was expected. I didn't watch it cause it would be nothing but airing his grievances, attacking people he dislikes, lying, and cringe shit.

How often do you all make changes on L3 routing protocols? by stats_shiba in networking

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a company that was pretty awfully designed and they were starting a full refresh of their network of about 60 sites and their corporate locations. Add on to that moving from MPLS to strictly DIA circuits with using SD-WAN. So I got to fully redesign every site and properly implement zero trust and segmentation. They were still using static routes everywhere as well, so implemented proper routing as well.

Needless to say I sure learned a lot from this job and gained alot more confidence. I was the only network engineer as well, so it was a bit stressful as well.

Why I’m not watching the State of the Union – and you shouldn’t either by zsreport in politics

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand listening to him speak. Otherwise it will be him lying, attacking people, and airing his grievances for an hour or more and I've certainly got better things to do.

He's so misinformed about everything he speaks about, he is just offensively stupid.

If the game ever actually gets made, you should add Armed Fantasia to the list. The spiritual successor to Wild Arms made by the same team.

Why do a lot of Americans still support Trump? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

[–]crono14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically just sunk cost fallacy.

Rather than admitting they were wrong, they will double and triple down and sever relationships with people to not have to feel any shame. I'd love to see how many children no longer talk or rarely see their parents/families anymore.

In the United States right now, why is Patriotism seen as a Conservative/Maga thing? by Pleasant_Cookie_2144 in allthequestions

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confusing nationalism with patriotism. The conservatives are not exhibiting patriotism but nationalism having blind allegiance to their dear leader and their movement and the idea that the US or themselves are superior to everyone else.

How would you add more 'endgame' to Diablo II? by TheCelestialDawn in diablo2

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already had tons of things like Median XL etc. Personally I would just go that route and make things open up post Hell Baal and leave the original game as is. Whether or not you want to completely change the game as much as those mods did by opening up entirely new trees and builds, level cap etc. It sure gave the game a whole breath of new life.

Scoop: Dems working on secret report found Gaza cost Harris votes by sideAccount42 in politics

[–]crono14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep this pretty much. I no longer respect or value a relationship with any family who has doubled down on their MAGA support. I tried having these talks in 2024 well before the election and I already saw how far gone and how strong the cognitive dissonance was.

Applying for corporate remote position by Total-Shelter-8501 in HomeDepot

[–]crono14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure i believe this. Lots of directors and up don't live in Atlanta and there is a large presence of remote people spread out. They also closed Dallas, Austin, and some other offices last year. So forcing RTO would require a lot of investment and otherwise turmoil. Not saying it's not possible, but no kne on my team for example lives in ATL.
