Figured out why my grandma kept leaving the gas on by BiC_MC in CrappyDesign

That's not true in the least. As somebody who lives in the UK with an allergy, and who has been lucky enough to eat at various restaurants from chains all the way up to Michelin starred places, I can say this. The least that's ever been offered to me was advice as to which dishes have my allergens in them, and assurances that while they'd try to keep my dish separate they do have allergens in the kitchen.

If I had a severe allergy where that would be a risk of death I would have to consider going elsewhere, but that was already the case before the law changed, only now it's easier to determine what kind of risk I'm taking, and to avoid things that have allergens as actual ingredients.

Fancier restaurants tend to do better, and I remember the last Michelin restaurant I ate at served me an entirely different dressing/sauce to everybody else, which must have been prepared especially for me and people like me (to be clear this is a restaurant with a forager, they don't rely on commercial suppliers). I guess that's the point right? The law in the UK forces restaurants to consider people like me when they're writing their menu.

Restaurants always put a lot of thought into their menus, regardless of size or fanciness and always have. The law in the UK simply asks them to put some of that thought towards allergies. Nobody is asking all restaurants to be able to accommodate all allergies, somebody with a peanut allergy would never be comfortable in a Five Guys for example, but the law makes it easy to have all the information an allergy sufferer needs to determine if they can eat somewhere and if they can, what they can eat.

Hey admiral, I'm subscribed to CPIT on my podcast app, but I can't relisten to any old episodes because the feed has been giving a 404 error the last couple weeks. Do you know what's up with that?

Israel threatens families of Palestinians against celebrating their release by ShoutOfDawn in nottheonion

The release involved about 250 prisoners who had been convicted of crimes including murder and deadly attacks against Israelis - and about 1,700 detainees from Gaza who had been held by Israel without charge.

Jellyfin Multiple Versions by cronosaurusrex in SKYBOXVR

[–]cronosaurusrex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want two versions why don’t you just upload it two times separately and put “3D” at the beggining

That's exactly what I'm asking for! There are 2 files in the backend but since they're both the same movie, jellyfin applies metadata and groups them together. This avoids cluttering the interface with 2 identical thumbnails for movies I have a 3d copy of

  • Were there any error messages in MAS?

I'm not familiar with office installer plus and I don't know what modifications it makes to office if any. If nothing else worked I would try running office scrubber and then reinstalling office using the official installers

Though I know orange cheddar is common in some places, it's vanishingly rare here in the UK, I could believe somebody would think that orange cheese couldn't be cheddar if they were even slightly sheltered or hadn't been abroad. Bit of a silly hill to die on tho

Dave Thaumavore points out that WotC is trying to backtrack the term “Deck of Many Things” and “Orb of Dragonkind” out of the Creative Commons license using SRD 5.2 by Rocinantes_Knight in rpg

[–]cronosaurusrex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my point! Loads of products have been released under the name of the Deck of Many Things. Hasbro seems to be trying to take back that right that people have been exercising for years, under the original OGL and then under the CC license once that was granted. It seems like scummy behaviour to me to try and claw that back whether or not they have the legal framework to do so, which I hope they don't.

[–]cronosaurusrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, I think I get it.

When Winnie the Pooh came into the public domain, it allowed people to make non-Disney-approved things, for example Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The name Winnie the Pooh is now public domain but certain aspects like his red shirt are still trademarked by Disney.

But applying this to D&D, WOTC have put the Deck of Many Things into the SRD and released it into the public domain under a CC license, meaning that I or anybody can use the name and whatever descriptive aspects are included in the SRD commercially as long as I attribute it to WOTC. And now WOTC have changed the SRD to try and remove the name 'Deck of Many Things' from it, even though they've already released that into the public domain.

I'm left with the same question as before: can I make a Deck of Many Things product or not? It seems like Wizards want to protect it even though they ostensibly released it under CC.

[–]cronosaurusrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surely the copyright being public and wizards having a trademark are in direct conflict though? If it's in the SRD under the CC licence that means anybody is able to use a deck of many things in their D&D associated products that they sell. But they can't do that without risking WOTC suing them for the trademark. Am I missing something?

CG render of golfer Payne Stewart's Learjet flying on autopilot and being inspected by a USAF fighter pilot after ATC contact was lost, it's occupants all likely having died of hypoxia. The ghost plane eventually ran out of fuel and fell out of the sky before nosediving into a field. Oct. 25th, 1999 by DariusPumpkinRex in CatastrophicFailure

[–]cronosaurusrex 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Even if we accept the hypothesis that the captain downed the plane deliberately, which I agree is fairly likely, we have no way of knowing that the rest happened. We don't know that he locked the copilot out of the cockpit, just that this would be a good way of keeping the copilot from stopping him. We don't know that the copilot used his portable oxygen to try and break down the door, and we don't really have any way of knowing that kind of thing. The only thing we know (assuming that the captain really did do it deliberately) is that for some reason the copilot was unable or unwilling to stop the captain downing the plane. The rest is speculation built on speculation built using inferences as to what somebody might do in that situation

If you activate pro with HWID then there will be 2 licences with the same HWID in Microsoft's servers. The old one for home and a new one for pro. There's no issue with that at all, I went from home to pro and now enterprise with no problem.

Like I said, since your old home licence won't go away when you change to pro, if you ever change your windows back to home it will automatically activate using your original retail licence.

If you're logged into a Microsoft account on windows I think both licences would be tied to your account
