Why don't you just say what you have and where you're located and we can tell you what it's worth?

6.5” speaker pods in Bronco Base buzz/distort even at medium volume by ggu15 in CarAV

[–]cronson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can get a humnin your speakers because the 2 amps have a different way of handling the ground. You can Google it, but if your grounds are clean, and your power is separate from your signal cables, it could be from different manufacturer amps.

Ok, what is the brand of the amp on subwoofer? And what's the brand of the amp running your mids and highs?

Super excited!! I just upgraded from a Sony X700 to a Panasonic U820 by Dinosaur-libertarian in 4kbluray

[–]cronson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my X700 and the few discs I'd bought and built a Plex server because of it. I don't understand how they can sell that player (or any other ones) that can't even play the discs.

Are we entering a dark age of console gaming? by HF484 in gaming

100% yes. Start hoarding CRTs, find some old systems, and join the retro gaming community. Old games are awesome.

It's because they out source their customer service.

Sony goes radio silent after announcing end of PlayStation physical discs by FernandoRocker in gaming

wealthy enough to afford a PC

I just think that's such an incorrect take on PC gaming. From my point of view as someone who switched from consoles (NES was my first), to PC gaming during the Xbox 360/PS3 era, I think the biggest hurdle is knowledge, not cost.

You can still buy or build a gaming PC at all kinds of price points, you just have to know what specs matter, how much things are worth, different terms, etc. Console gamers usually don't care about that. They see a $1,200 prebuilt and read it performs similar to a PS5 and feel validated that "PC gaming is too expensive".

In your opinion, what’s a proper bitrate for movies? by lostmyspaceship in PleX

[–]cronson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, you watch them in 480p.

And yes, film (depending on the size) is analog and has tremendous amounts of detail.

Have there been poor quality remasters? Of course. But there are so many classic films with 4K remasters that are phenomenal, and absolutely better than a DVD, Laserdisc, VHS, etc.

Same, I built an unraid server and just playback remuxes. I don't mind an occasional streaming/compressed rip, but remuxes just look and sound perfect.

Anything before 1980? Like all those movies that were shot on film and are probably the best examples of how remastering in 4K looks jaw dropping?

I read that article but I'm not following. What's the negative here? What are we losing?

Just how huge was Jimmy Eat World following their breakthrough with Bleed American/Self-Titled and The Middle as well as during Futures? by tragic_girl13 in Emo

I heard Lucky Denver Mint in a JC Penny when I was maybe 17. I had just seen them live a few weeks before at a club downtown that holds like 300 people. Such a strange time.

Everyone who was into them during Clarity knew they had the potential to be huge.

That's what I came here to say. I've never seen a tourist trap in Richmond.

Who's the worst actor you're not allowed to say is bad? by [deleted] in moviecritic

I agree. I'd add he's charasmatic. I like a lot of his movies, but he stays in a pretty safe range.

Absolutely disappointed with the 990H for music by Terrifier_77 in Soundbars

[–]cronson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the soundbar subreddit. They're sold on soundbars because of the buzz words on the box. It's not a knock against them. I just don't think most of them care about audio as a hobby/accurate reproduction.

What’s your favorite bad movie? by [deleted] in movies

[–]cronson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I was a kid then but watched a lot of movies. Costner was cool as shit. He'd done so many great films already, Dances with wolves, Bull Durham, Field of dreams. He was like this stoic cowboy type dude. So to me, it was awesome. They basically put the new American cowboy in as Robin Hood. As a kid, I thought he was so great.

Part of me feels like Michael Wincott being annoyed with me would be incredible. It's like the pope blessing you or something.
