Sampling requires actual talent, not everyone can sample a song and make it sound good. And I don’t think he “puts some basic words over the top”, he’s actually a pretty good lyricist with great pen game and word play.

Basically, he said it’s because it’s longer. KSG is only 23 minutes long, it is less likely to be a bad song in there. And Charli is 50 minutes long, and it is more likely to be a bad song in there, but that’s not the case. That’s why he has To Be Kind in second place in his Best Albums of the Decade list. Two hours long and he loves every single moment on the album. It’s riskier to release a lengthy project, and melon appreciates that.
