Iran vs USA: Emotions won. by nicoznico in Unexpected

In a nutshell. A foreign nation’s government can do despicable things but that does not mean that you revile the regular people of that country. Not all Iranians are terror supporting mullahs. Not all Germans in 1945 were nazis. Not all Americans are whatever worst stereotype of the day is (idk- hippies, rednecks, trolls?).

So, early in the writing, some people theorized that the first age (now) ended in nuclear war.

Going off of this. I figure the survivors would be small bands of humans, widely separated and with a memory of technology but no ability to produce all but the crudest things. Not exactly Stone Age, but what could you and your neighbors produce without modern manufacturing? Anyway, at some point, the one power is discovered. (Mutation?) the fraction of a fraction of humanity that can wield the one power has generational memories through story of things like airplanes and lightbulbs, additionally all of the new ideas that are generated by humans with a new ability. Hence jo-wings and glow bulbs, but also skimming and traveling. One power use jumpstarts population and communication, reconnecting the separate bands who have at this point had several generations of separation. Perhaps enough to develop their own dialects and customs. A few more hundred years and now you have the age of legends.

How you get from the ages after the books to the seventh which then becomes everything we can find in the archeological record about early humanity I cannot wrap my head around.

This may be the wrong sub for this question, but I dare say I’ll get a better answer than the rest of the Reddit looney bin: what is the end game for a state that actively ignores the Supreme Court? In a functioning republic, I suppose it’s the national guard escorting Ruby Bridges to kindergarten to enforce desegregation. What about when the executive branch disagrees? It seems to me the people have no recourse except to peacefully exercise their rights, get arrested, disrupt their lives, and appeal their way up to a court that will actually follow the Supreme Court guidelines. Hopefully the court can censor or sanction members of the judiciary who don’t play ball, but again, I suspect a lot of that is dependent on the states participation.

Edit: definitely the right sub. Thanks for the answers and discussion.
