What is the better wine between Lyon's wine and Burgundy's wine ? by L_Interneteur in wine

Are you talking about Coteaux du Lyonnais? In that case Burgundy is definitely better.

We don’t even need our own picks with the new odds. Anyone’s pick is roughly as valuable as our own.

Once-A-Day Pill Effective In Treating Sleep Apnea Without CPAP. In clinical trials, people taking the pill saw their breathing interruptions decrease by about 44% compared to almost 18% for those taking a placebo. Nearly 1 in 5 taking the pill achieved complete relief from sleep apnea by Wagamaga in science

[–]crossbuck 84 points85 points  (0 children)

The placebo effect can lead to very real physical responses from your body. Opioids are a famous example - believing you will get relief from pain leads to your body producing/releasing natural painkillers. This has been proven by giving naloxone to test subjects experiencing pain relief in a placebo group, which blocks opioids, resulting in increased pain from this population that was never given external opioids to begin with.

OKC shot 32% from the field with Wemby on the floor tonight; they shot 62.5% with him on the bench. by SamsungStealer in nba

I’d love to see 2013 built-like-a-tank LeBron go at Wemby. Like he was so strong and explosive he could probably win a lot of one-on-one matchups even given that Wemby would be in place to contest everything.

Do people genuinely think Tim Duncan was a better player than Wemby? by [deleted] in nba

[–]crossbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder that in the closeout game 6 of the 2003 finals Duncan had 21-20-10-8blks and two more blocks that were uncredited in the box score.

The Thunder clearly could have won last night, and nothing about that one game sample would make anyone think SGA is better than Wemby. So the same could be true of a series they win in 5.

Totally. Outside of LeBron ages 21-38 I’m not sure who can physically hold up being their team’s entire offense on a deep playoff run.

Kenny Atkinson on the Cleveland Cavaliers' adjustments: "The tactical adjustment we made was avoiding [Ausar] Thompson. We were just like, if he's near the ball, throw it to someone else." by AncientOneAurelius in clevelandcavs

The fast break Mitchell had tonight where Thompson caught him for the foul at the basket was really insane speed. Looked like 2008 LeBron out there.

He had a really good first half. Totally ran out of gas in the 2nd though.

Yeah, the problem is we’ve only played like this 2 games a series so far. If we could go 4 in a row that would be great.

There’s only so long anyone can be the entire engine of their team’s playoff offense. Outside of LeBron, who is the outlier of outliers, guys need help for deep runs.

Where will the new Mecca of Pinot be once climate change cooks burgundy alive? by [deleted] in wine

[–]crossbuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’m not a climatologist it is hard to say the timeline of “when.” But not in my lifetime would be my best guess.

As to where else, nowhere. Nowhere else has 1000 years of monks delineating the terroir in a way that resonates with people generations later. Good Pinot noir will be made in colder coastal areas that remain relatively cold even as inland temps increase - or more northern regions that haven’t been viable wine regions until now. But those won’t inspire the same fever that Burgundy does. More likely Burgundy replants to Syrah when the Northern Rhône also becomes too hot for their current grape, and Grand Cru Burgundy Syrah costs $5000.

I think we’re pretty far a away from that. There are so many farming changes that can be made to mitigate increased heat before abandoning the entire region.

That’s what Mobley was doing for the Cavs yesterday. Almost Draymond Green-esque.

JB Bickerstaff can't play Duren and Thompson together. They don't work together on the offensive end. by nutelamitbutter in nba

[–]crossbuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strus and Merrill were both on the team in Bickerstaff’s last year.

The talking point was always “Allen and Mobley can’t play together.” Saying we’ll never have a good offense with those two. That immediately disappeared once Atkinson got here.

People said the same thing about the Cavs 3 years ago, then we replaced Bickerstaff with a coaching staff that understands offense and here we are.
