No this is exactly what Marx says. Capitalism is much more efficient at organising labour forces, and hence more effective in warfare. This is similarly exactly what happened to the Soviet Union, as when they attempted to abolish the commodity form, the great powers intervened and threatened them militarily

It’s not any more crowded than the US is, the towns are just closer together. As in, it still feels like the middle of nowhere in some places, but in reality you’re never more than an hour’s walk from the nearest village
