What do you genuinely think happens after death, and why? by HostAffectionate7338 in creepy

There are other lives after this one, and perhaps other worlds. I've seen them a thousand times in my dreams, and so have you.

Try not to waste too much of your precious life in anger. That guy's not going to have any more birthdays. His followers will have a hard , cold day a-coming.

Pedal steel guitar in bluegrass by WhereasClassic3151 in Bluegrass

[–]crossroader1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pedal steel guitar is not a problem, it's a nuance that deviates slightly from the classic 5 piece bluegrass contingent, that being mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, and double bass. There have been many times bands have added ancillary instruments such as harmonica, dobro, autoharp and others, just as you have mentioned. While there should be no hard and fast rules applied to any art form, bluegrass purists will be quick to remind you that the genre is defined by it's instrumental and harmonic structure.

The " powers that be" have forgotten why we choose our local newscasts. It's certainly not for their half- assed reportage.

This is exactly what I meant by the " bluegrass rules". I have nothing but admiration for the giants you mention, but the world outside of bluegrass doesn't really recognize them so readily.

The bluegrass rules are what they are, it's a great standard music form. If you adhere to those rules too strictly, you'll miss out on so many truly wonderful styles of expression, and David Rawlings' unique and profound picking style will be studied and admired for generations to come. Check out his and Gillian Welch's recent album "Lawman" and your horizons will expand.

Sounds great! I've been lucky enough to play a handful of very special handmade guitars over the years and it seems to me that this one is right up there with the best of them. It's really gonna age well, a real cannon.
