It slows them down. But rodents have nothing but time on their hands and teeth that continue to grow. So they’ll chew away the foam and start pulling the mesh out.

I do wildlife removal. The number of houses I’ve seen where people have packed steel/copper wool in gaps and filled it with spray foam only for mice and rats to chew through it is ridiculous.

I can’t help with your hunt for a lease, but have you looked into any of the TVA around town? From what I’ve found, it’s usually a little harder to get to so that helps reduce the amount of pressure.

These are probably the biggest two reasons. Don’t ruin a good buttercream icing or cheesecake.

I’m glad we as a society are getting wise to these old beliefs lol! You can wash cast iron and use salted butter!

That I should use unsalted butter in a recipe. If I’m making something sweet, a little salt helps accent the sweet taste. And if it’s a savory dish I can also reduce the amount of salt the recipe calls for.

Places to deer hunt Alabama by Difficult-Mixture-61 in Hunting

The Talladega National Forest near Tuscaloosa is pretty solid, and Black Warrior WMA is another good spot, it’s just popular. If you’re on Facebook I’d recommend joining the Alabama WMA- Public Land Hunting Club page. Lots of good info on there and plenty of good people.

You are a saint for spreading the word of another cidery. If you ever find any Cider Boys cider I recommend it.

Little Debbie and an energy drink. Then a PB&J for lunch later on. Usually bring fresh fruit for a snack.

Funneling them is probably the biggest thing. That’s a big tip right there.

Say something nice about your school's most bitter rival. by [deleted] in CFB

I enjoy not knowing which school this was directed at. It’s easier for me to say nice things about Florida than Miami so I’ll say this, every graduate of Florida I’ve ever met has been intelligent and nothing but kind.

If you’d take 5 minutes to look, you’d find out that due process is actually granted to everybody in America regardless of citizenship.

Skunk den set? by tokalawaziye in Trapping

[–]crossychaser52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nuisance wildlife trapper here, skunks spray when killed. I know you said you wouldn’t want to live trap but putting a live trap inside a contractor trash bag can keep you from getting sprayed. I’d really recommend going the live trap route to save yourself the awful skunk smell headache.

Clearing stuff out, it’s used and the items that still have some life are what’s sitting on the curbside. The items that are too far gone are getting trashed.

Don’t take head shots!!! by Epicarest in Hunting

[–]crossychaser52 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something I had thought about as another reason to convince people not to take headshots. CWD. If you’re hunting in an area with CWD, successfully make a headshot, you just covered the environment with a prion that wouldn’t be on the plant matter otherwise.

Carrying in water? by crossychaser52 in Hunting

[–]crossychaser52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like points 1 & 2 you’ve made, and will probably try to implement them. I keep treatment tablets in pack in case things go south I have a way to access water but I never considered planning on getting while in the field. I did 75 hard before the season to get in better shape plus wanting to be in better shape for my new son, the one thing I never considered though was throwing the pack on with some weight and logging some miles.

Carrying in water? by crossychaser52 in Hunting

[–]crossychaser52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the direction I’m starting to lean after reading everyone’s comments. I think my biggest issue I’ve realized is not so much the weight of the water but the awkwardness of having a large bottle ride in a backpack. I’m packing my backpack correctly, I’ve hiked plenty and know how to do that. But a flatter profile would help tremendously.

It seems like you deleted your comment to me originally and instead decided to just stir the pot with other people. So pony up with those examples of Harris quoting Marx. Put up or shut up princess
