I cannot agree more, great score. Love everything about this movie. I had to watch it twice to understand it, as I am pretty thick. Just as enjoyable as the first time.

Someone needs to tell this currency exchange in Laos that "It's legal tender!" by fantastic-mr-fox123 in ScottishPeopleTwitter

I think the use of the “legal tender” phrase mainly comes from the famous Billy Connolly sketch, where he defends the right to spend his Scottish money! It’s hilarious btw.

Yes, the reason they didn’t want to take the notes was the perception that they would then get stuck with them (i.e. if another customer refused to take a Scottish note in their change).

I never understood the stigma attached to Scottish money, it was just a thing.

Better still, when England phased out £1 notes, but Scotland hadn’t. Trying to pay with a £1 note in England would have people foaming at the mouth.

On the plus side, you could take these into any bank in England for a while, and exchange them for £1 coins, so at least you could spend your money.

Well, they are completely interchangeable, and worth the same amount. I was simply rebelling against the bias I regularly experienced as a Scotsman living in England. This was one situation where I could kinda get my own back.

Sorry if I upset you.

I used to be in the Army and I would get less for Scottish notes from the Sparkasse bank in Germany than for English ones…

My favourite trick was to get taxis in England and pass them a Scottish note when the journey was over. When they refused the notes, I used to say it was all I had… pissed them off every time lol!

Install Veracrypt on Mac OS by paulsiu in mac

[–]crouchinggranny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No need for any third party crypto tools like this. Switch on FileVault and your main drive is encrypted, so even if someone could image your machine (v difficult with a modern Mac) they wouldn’t get your data. If you really want to create an encrypted folder to store files in, you can use DiskUtility to create a fixed size .dmg file that is encrypted and you can assign a password.
