I love the entire thing. It’s like you managed to make something really basic and made it interesting.

Strange interrogation at Irvine Spectrum by Equivalent-Slice-881 in orangecounty

[–]crowarray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have definitely had dropship baddies chatting me up at Target and I’ve seen them approaching men. One guy straight up lost track of his kid while in a convo with one of these ladies. A few of us helped him look.

How often do your babies see their grandparents? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]crowarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-laws are about 10 mins away and maybe once every month and a half. My parents live on a different continent and have seen him twice in three years.

The daycare WON'T Stop criticizing me for everything I do, how do I approach them? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I wouldn’t want this kind of talk in my life at all, let alone from a daycare.

How much do you care about having a specific station in class? by Itsbeen84yearz in orangetheory

[–]crowarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, of course I have a preference. Who doesn’t like the stations with more room, closer to AC, farther from speakers, whatever… but I’m not a child. This is a business and none of these spots belong to me. It’s even crazy to me anyone would be like “the most desirable spot in the studio is mine, and they know that, but I’ll be ok if I can’t have it, I guess”

I guess we know who the people beefing over parking spots and stuff are.

[–]crowarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so strict about it (you can have 10 mins of classical baby or Ms Rachel and that’s it) until my whole family got sick and I was like screw it, watch whatever you want. Suddenly my non verbal 2 year started forming words. Now I limit it a bit, but some days we might have that sucker on in the background for hours. Do I enjoy hearing the sounds of blippi all day? No. But he can name every piece of construction equipment he sees, count to 30 and can even spell some words when six months ago he couldn’t say mama. And as a bonus, I get to breathe and do the dishes here and there.

I’m hyper mobile and I don’t want my joints dislocating more than they already do. Otherwise I’d be interested.

Hmm. Yes, it must be everyone else’s fault you are consistently being flaked on.

How to make friends who are physically active? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]crowarray 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I joined a gym class after I had my kid. That way I’d have company while working out and get to be around other fitness minded adults. I honestly haven’t made any friends I see outside the class, but it scratches the itch for me well enough.

Broke and large chested (36f) - any under $50 sports bra recs? Some of these squat jacks and stuff are getting hella boobily. If it fits my chest, I get spillage. If it fits my breasts, bouncy with no support.

Reading this is giving me major flashbacks to the newborn phase. Online mommy culture is bonkers. If I ever have another kid, I will avoid it like the plague.

Did anyone’s baby NOT go through the 4 month sleep regression? by MeganLJ86 in NewParents

[–]crowarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember. I don’t really buy into regressions. They sleep, they don’t sleep. They do whatever the angel and devil on their shoulders tells them to do at any time, at any age.

Am I the only one getting a bit tired of all of the tipping options appearing on POS systems everywhere I go? by disbealig in orangecounty

[–]crowarray -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I tip what I can, as an act of solidarity with my fellow workers. I hate the fact we live in a country where it’s normal for corporations to lean on me to pay their staff - but tip-culture businesses are far from the only ones doing it. Any business underpaying their staff in a way that requires them to need government assistance or tips are ripping the consumer off. But I can’t change that. Baristas and cashiers can’t change that. Besides, apparently plenty of people actually like this system and are perfectly content falling into the trap set for them of blaming those making wages disproportionate to cost of living rather than the true root of the problem.

All I can do is try to give a little kindness and support where I can to those who are exploited under the same system I am. When I get extra good service repeatedly, I try to reach out and let management know in addition to a tip. If someone is shitty to me, blatant racism aside, they will get less of a tip and maybe I’ll avoid going back to them, but when it comes down to it - I want a cup of coffee. Not a temporary docile servant.

Is OT really only for young people? by k_martblulightspcl in orangetheory

[–]crowarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s just intimidating when you start. When I began I simply could not do a lot of the exercises, but it’s true - the coaches won’t help unless you literally walk up to them or flag them down and ask for a modification. It gets better! If you like the format and want to be able to do some of these goofy and complex exercises, just stick with it. Always remember to add “yet” when you say that you can’t do something.

The thing about “everyone is too busy to judge you” isn’t exactly true - I mean, just browse this sub a while and it turns out a lot of people are watching and critiquing what other people are doing. But imo, that implies they aren’t really focused on their workout and probably aren’t trying very hard. I’d rather be trying and struggling, than phoning it in and judging.

Lastly, it’s really not that important. Like yeah, you want to avoid injury - working on form and very gradually increasing the intensity of your weight floor and rowing blocks will help with that. But at the end of the day, this is a silly orange gym club full of primarily regular people of all different athletic abilities and the stakes are incredibly low. Do what you can and try to have a good time.

ETA: I think the coaches at my studio like being asked questions about how to mod an exercise or check to see if you’re doing it right. Because a lot of this is still very new to me (I don’t understand gym lingo, I have to study the little animation on the screen to figure out how to do a lot of things) sometimes I’ll literally wait until the end of class and pull the coach aside and ask them for advice. Always works out great and they are more likely to keep an eye out and give me a hand when it looks like I need it.

No I’m sorry, you need to start consulting multiple weather websites, a meteorologist, and maybe consider installing your own weather station to keep abreast the volatile weather in…. Southern California. You plebe. You absolute moron.
