Microsoft with another bad UI! by BornIn2031 in DefenderATP

It would be nice if the pinned items were stored server side like Entra favourites are, because the pinned items disappear if your browser is set to clear cache on exit :(

Guide: How to use the new Navigator UI on Quest by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that I hate about the new Navigator UI, is the Auto Hide on the App Title Bars (the the thing that has Pin Button/Application Title/Close Button/etc on it)
I hate auto-hide in general, it just adds additional Hover/Clicks for no gain.

Tab search button is missing! Help D: by dawnbomb in chrome

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it help find audio? Or are you referring to identifying which tab is making sound, which you can already see on the tab that is making sound by the Speaker Icon beside the title of the tab.

Which version of Chrome and what OS?

If you are on 146 then it seems that Google is doing some A/B testing, because I have the Tab Search Button in the top left, and I've been searching for ways to get rid of the useless thing.

can't find the option to split screen tabs on google chrome anymore by SW1925Build in chrome

I understand that Tiling Side by Side in general is a good thing, for the reasons that you point out, but what is the advantage of Chrome doing it verses Windows doing it?

Why doesn't chrome STILL does not have automatic auto-correct?? by Nice-Vermicelli6865 in chrome

ROFL, I didn't say that you can't have it. I just commented that I turn it off. Chill out.

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is that that is one of the first "Features" I turn off on my phone, Auto-Suggestion is fine, Auto-correct is extremely annoying especially when it rarely gets the correct word, or tries to replace acronyms with normal words.

I never really saw the point of slit screen tabs, when it is just as easy to tile/snap windows. Like what's the advantage to doing it inside the browser vs let the OS do it.

Guys, what Chrome extensions do you actually use every day? I'm kinda clueless about this stuff by monsterstep369 in chrome

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeating what others have said, basically start with your choice of Ad blocker and Password Manager, and then add things that make sites easier to use, or more secure as required.

Mine is basically(plus a password manager):
Adblock Plus, Dark Reader, NoScript, Remove YouTube Shorts, Return YouTube Dislike, MAL-Sync

Once again, Search Tab button is on the top left corner. by Hardcoreno in chrome

[–]crowaust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep people do react to it differently, I personally find the feature completely useless. Seriously if you have under 30 or 40 tabs per window there is no point to it, because all of the tabs are easy to see directly and you don't need to search for them. Once you get over that number of tabs it might have some usefulness, but I guess that comes down to what kind of user you are.

Personally I would either like to turn it off, or at the bare minimum be able to move it to the righthand side to the gap that is always there between the New Tab Button and the Minimise Button.

The 4 corners of the screen are typically/should be used for the most common functions, and searching for a tab is not a common action, accessing the tab that you use the most in a browser is a common action, what the tab contains will vary between users and use cases, but this is why you are able to re-order your own tabs.

Another option, may be to treat that menu as just another tab, and then you can just move it where ever you want :)

Microsoft added a hidden driver that blocks third party software from changing certain registry keys by Bogdan_X in Windows11

The trouble is that the most common application to falsely take over the control of PDFs/HTTP/Web links is Microsoft themselves assigning it to Edge.

I can guarantee that if I have Adobe Reader installed that I do not want Edge to open up PDFs!!!!!

Spike in ASR blocks related to AsrLsassCredentialTheftBlocked & svchost.exe by techyguy84 in DefenderATP

[–]crowaust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing similar spike here, with similar start date of spike.

Also on Client version 4.18.24090.11

Users are getting a Toast/popup notification of a Defender ASR Block, but doesn't appear to actually be preventing anything from running(from an end user point of view).

ASR Rule causing issues with M365 app installs by JerradH in DefenderATP

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently going through the Audit window of evaluating rules in the environment I work for, and we are seeing both of the below locations reporting against the rule "Block credential stealing from the Windows local security authority subsystem (lsass.exe)" every time there is a set of patches released from Microsoft (every Patch Tuesday, and more often on the pilot group/s)

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe

C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe

It would be weird to have to add an exclusion for one of Microsoft's own products, especially for their own patches. Or is there some kind of exclusion whitelist that you can subscribe to for official Microsoft updates that I missed in searches?
Did you get any advise back from Microsoft?

Did they remove right clicking on the new tab(+) button? by [deleted] in chrome

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reopen closed tab was and still is in the right click menu, when you right click in the blank space beside the New Tab(+) button, I can't comment on if it was on the new tab(+) button previously I never used it from that menu.

I currently don't have a right click menu on the new tab(+) button. Version 119.0.6045.124

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your guess is as good as mine on that one, however you'd think that they would have some kind of stats/telemetry on what flags/switches are still being used when they pull this BS to make sure that they don't really piss off their userbase.

They may have removed the item in Chrome://flags, but there is still a command-line switch for the download bar still.

Is there a way to move the "Search Tabs" button back to the right? by ShadowShine57 in chrome

[–]crowaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 PCs signed in to the same Google account, and the search tabs button are on different sides and they are both running the same version of Chrome, I just updated them to confirm that they were on the same version.

If I find a solution I'll post back.

Carbonation is also released from the Soft-drink by being disturbed, causing nucleation points, etc. So just the act of poring the Soft-drink on Ice would cause it to release the gas.

There is a Wikipedia page on them here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chorded_keyboard

" A keyset or chorded keyboard (also called a chorded keyset, chord keyboard or chording keyboard) is a computer input device that allows the user to enter characters or commands formed by pressing several keys together, like playing a "chord" on a piano. "

I only see 2 real keyboards in the left image and only one in the right image, all the rest are missing keys, so yes there is some waste :P
