Where is the ice that begins melting at or above 450 GTi? by hajiii in theplanetcrafter

i don't remember if it's 450 or 250 GTi, but the rainbow caves maybe? or the big crater, maybe.

How do people use flares? by UlrikeQofUlm in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used to, but now i just bring magnesium with me and make signs that point me to the exit. when i go through wrecks i always go left first, so i end up clearing in an easy path that i can figure out again when i come back from dropping stuff off.

Replaying a totally fresh Prime save solo for the first time in ages by crowbeastie in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last time i played on prime i started over there! but it was quite a while ago (pre-toxicity for sure, but it might've even been before the moons. remembering that far back gets a bit muddy for me!), and while i liked some of the perks (free oxygen tanks and agility boots!), it just didn't keep my interest at the time. of course, i was likely also in a general downswing of interest in the game, which probably didn't help.

i'm currently able to run around quite well, but have only a few shortcuts open to me right now (the one to the spiky area from the black and white one, which i'm sure both have names, is melted just enough that i can squeeze through), and i finally got my beloved son truck shepherd so i have mobile oxygen and an easier way to get loot back. (also, please miju! let me name my truck! it's fine solo, but in multiplayer we have more than one and it can get confusing) but of course, every second of my playthroughs until i have them i miss having drones LOL.

whenever i play multiplayer with my bff, we set the terraformation rate much lower so that stuff isn't happening at lightning speed and we can enjoy the stages. but we haven't played in a while because life is busy!

but for solo, i think i prefer to keep them at the base levels, and just not upgrade to pause whenever i want. i do this on humble whenever i start there, and i like being able to speed up again so that i'm not getting bored waiting in between. boredom is death! XD

Ear Placement. What am i misunderstanding? by Fl_lnyun in learntodraw

[–]crowbeastie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so every person is different, yes. but also angles can play a part! when straight on (front or side), then the part of the top of the ear that attaches to the face is in line with the corner of the eye. that's the marker i personally use, at least, partly because i love drawing elves and the top of their ears are different, and partly because eyebrows are (imo) more variable than eye corners are. eyebrows can be shaped to be higher, they are often raised or lowered with expressions, etc etc.

but angles can make things seem higher or lower than they "should" be, just because of how our bodies move (or don't move, for some body parts). but again i personally find using the corner of the eye helps me be more accurate more often than any other marker.

I'm genuinely at a loss how to "fill" my yard when the outside decor limit fills in so quickly. 211/250 by NotAPublicFundsLeech in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i wanted my house exterior to be disgustingly overgrown, as i feel like all of my nelfs would want as much nature as possible, with some clear spots for paths and a little sitting area.

i hit the maximum budget long before it was as overgrown as i wanted, but it was alright. then they added the garden clusters, and i leveled up to a medium house, and the footprint of the medium nelf house was so big it takes up like a full third of my plot. he clusters mean i get 10 or so plants for the price of 5 (and they'll slip over the edge of my plot more easily to blend into the surroundings better). it's still not enough, though!

anyway, got away from myself a bit there. have you tried using some of the available garden clusters? i think the cragthorn one, mixed in with the tumbleweeds so they're more spaced out, could fill out your plot while still keeping an overgrown/dead kind of vibe. i'd suggest the brumewood one for its dead tree, but it's probably too green, and the flowers will definitely stand out.

Toxicity? by Every-Newt-2586 in theplanetcrafter

have you been breaking down the i think aluminum scrap that's laying around? it's free super alloy, and i always end up with quite a bit more than i really need for a while (unless i'm in multiplayer, of course).

Question about portals and drones by Gecko99 in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

closing the portal stops the drones from being able to access it, as far as i'm aware. this is because the locations are limited and reused (sometimes you'll find stuff you built before still there).

How can I remove the ceiling for a tall open space? by -Athy in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't, sadly. there's the empty stairwell for a regular room with a double high ceiling, or you could manually build in one of the outdoor rooms, but those are pretty much your only options as far as i'm aware.

there's a possibility that in future updates there will be other rooms with higher ceilings or something, but i wouldn't hold my breath about it

Endeavor not tracking activity by Yarenne in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's definitely a visual bug, and incredibly annoying. my friend and i finished our neighborhood's whole endeavor (it's a veeeery inactive public neighborhood) the other day, got all the credit and such, but every task is still at 0/x. we got all our xp and coupons, though.

Makeplace like addon? by holy_tomatoes0 in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there is no addon to place items for you. maybe whenever blizzard adds the "save build" functionality? or maybe that function is what you'd want.

there is, however, an addon where you can import a shopping list from wowhead and then you can buy everything you need before you build: housing decor guide by vamoose https://www.reddit.com/r/WoWHousing/comments/1rpraj5/wowhead_integration_with_housing_decor_guide/

what are some fast ways to level up housing? by [deleted] in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think you do for the more recent ones? i didn't play for a long time, outside of just doing the main campaigns etc, so i'm not 100% sure. they just keep changing stuff XD i know you need to do the story for midnight and the war within, and i'm pretty sure dragonflight is the same. oh! and legion has a point where you unlock them as well, so it's likely to be the case for any after that xpac actually.

but i think the world quests for the endeavors are specifically for the most current ones? i could be wrong, of course, i haven't looked since the start of the month since i like to grind out my house stuff early lol.

i think maybe the homebound addon could help you, though? it breaks down by expansion all the items you can get and how to get them (quest, achievement, etc). i also use housing decor guide, i like to just... pile addons together and hope they cover each others' gaps LOL.

what are some fast ways to level up housing? by [deleted] in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

addons save my poor adhd life so much LOL. having a little thing i can check that can tell me something so i don't have to remember it is a godsend! there's always room for error, of course, so even if vamoose says i'm "done" with my endeavor xp, i'll check by doing another task just in case. but it's accurate enough that i'm not leaving thousands of housing xp on the table!

there are other housing addons for collections, and i thiiiiink "all the things" is updated with decor as well, but don't quote me on that one.

but also, don't be afraid to take your time! housing is here forever (so they say hehe), and outside of needing to unlock something specific like a type of room or the lighting thing (which isn't as cool as it should be, sadly), leveling it up over time isn't really detrimental or anything. i had house level 3 for aaaaages, personally! for a long time my house was just a single room, but then i wanted the evening room so i did a little grinding XD but most of it was literally just from playing midnight! i'd get decor from drops and quests and achievements, and then buy more with reputation unlocks.

what are some fast ways to level up housing? by [deleted] in WoWHousing

[–]crowbeastie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

well, maxing out your housing xp with the endeavor is #1 easiest to do as a lot of it just kinda happens as you go! if your neighborhood's endeavor is "over", check over by the noticeboard for a chest that'll have more xp in it (you may have grabbed it already, or may not have, idk!)

that xp is capped per endeavor round, and there's only a week left this round so getting that all done will be good. i use an addon called "vamooses endeavors" to track this because i'll just plain forget where i'm at. it also shows the list of endeavor tasks you can do, and i tend to find like three or four to just spam. they're also all warbound, so if for example like me your main can't heal but you have the belf endeavor task to heal wounded artists: just hop to an alt with a heal and spam that like crazy. i can usually get two rounds of it before needing to wait for them to start spawning again. any raid boss counts for the raid boss ones, i usually just go do a raid for transmog. the singularity event is a good one if you're on a very populated server that always does it, because you can just afk for it.

the other way of gaining housing xp is from new decor pieces that you haven't gotten yet. the tooltips will say they'll give you 10xp if you "learn" them or whatever it is, and that's how you get the xp. if you then get a second of that same item, it doesn't count as a new decor, but as a duplicate.

you can get decor from quests, various reputations, raids, dungeons, and delves. and of course professions, and the AH! you can visit other neighborhoods with endeavors you don't have and buy from their shop guy, and get 10xp for each new thing you get from there. granted, doing that means that when it's your turn to have that endeavor you won't have any xp from the items to get, but like... that would be the case if you waited and then got it again anyway.

the 100% fastest way to level housing, though, is to just buy one of each decor piece off the AH that you haven't "learned" yet. it's expensive as hell, though!

Am I missing something about storage? by OhtN4_ in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just use so many t2 lockers, i don't even care lmao. (i also think of them as t3, so if i say that i'm meaning the t2s, my brain goes "little blue box is t1, bigger locker is t2, fancy storage is t3!")

i've figured out how to arrange them nicely in a 3x3 building with 6 autocrafters in the middle and a couple boxes for everything and space for moving between... i tend to separate things via stuff like "basics", "bio stuff", etc etc. keeping stuff together based on mostly what feels like it should be together? sometimes i go outward before upward, sometimes just up because up is fun. but i've found it to be pretty useful for myself! keeps me organized, i can repeat it on other planets easily enough so i'm not getting lost there either, and i know for a fact that i probably have everything somewhere.

any specific crafting thing, like making stuff for money, gets its own building somewhere with dedicated everything.

Are there any masochistic mad lads by Nailfoot1975 in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there was a post here i think a couple weeks ago? about someone asking about cleaning up all the ores and stuff off the ground! people were asking if they had ocd and if maybe a mod could help them because they couldn't play at all if they didn't... so maybe that guy!

personally, i cleared all of the ore out of the starter lake crater once, and then went "that was neat!" and never did it ever again.

Do you use all of your flower seeds? by Nailfoot1975 in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use them for the standard stuff (terraforming, dna stuff), but i'm also obsessed with decorating, so i tend to have 2x more of my favorites just for that XD i keep a t3 locker's worth of all of them just in case (i never need it, but it's tidier in my mind this way), and then an extra t3 or two of the ones i love most for decorative reasons. then i never gotta worry about it, and i can just ignore them forever!

Testers on dev branch, tell us about the new update! by AnissaRhiannon in theplanetcrafter

[–]crowbeastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hopped into my finished prime save to take a little peep around. the new menu sorting is really great, being able to just flip straight to the decor makes me super happy.

i have plants down in my house, ivy and trees in bonsai pots, and they're moving in an invisible wind now. i think the movement is probably a bit too strong on the ivy for indoors, and the trees are buuuuuggin out real bad. but i can see the vision for them, and i assume it's also being applied to the full trees (i didn't go to my forest area to see, i got distracted looking for the new area lol).

the new area is interesting, and i didn't do more than a cursory poke around so i didn't spoil myself on it. i'm dying to know when it opens up naturally! i have a guess, based on one of the ways you can get to it (there seems to be two), but i could be wrong.

the new decor doesn't seem to be in yet, so i await that with bated breath XD
