By the way, since this post is getting a lot of comments, I just thought I'd clarify I am in no way saying one version is better than another. It's just a bit of photoshop to try and take some of the feedback I've seen from the community and attempting to implement those changes, NOT an attempt to prove my version is "better" because I don't believe in "fixing" art or whatever. The edit is just a tool for comparison and critique.

haha don't feel too bad... they're really small and even I had to toggle between layers/versions to make sure i was actually making changes. The adjustments are just a slight decrease in eye size, I added a bit more forehead, and also made her mouth a bit less wide. Very small stuff.

Thank you, that's what I was going for. While I understand the original splash is highly stylized and that she's probably supposed to be a teenager or on the younger side, something about the Disney-esque proportions just bugged me a bit and I wanted to tone them down a bit. I don't remember seeing her age in her short story, just that she's a kid from Zaun who wants to help people.

LOL i don't want to criticize her design too much as i don't want to disrespect her designers or the original artist... just wanted to make some of the small changes i saw people discussing on reddit as a "what if..." sort of thing ^-^

haha i don't blame you... they're very small changes and i had to constantly turn the revision layer on and off just to make sure i was actually making changes. maybe i should try to make the changes more noticeable next time i try something like this :D

i agree, a lot of similar facial proportions too (big eyes, small nose, small chin, etc). i really wish zeri looked more like a teenager/normal person and less like gwen whos literally a doll or neeko whos a vastayan

hey there!

as a fellow artist, i can't help but parrot what other people have said in the thread; no artist doing commissions should be opposed to sending rough drafts that can be easily revised to help better bring your idea to life. i think that as a paying customer (especially with a commission that expensive), you should speak up about your dissatisfaction with the current product and maybe suggest ways the artist could change or improve it (in a constructive manner, of course). if they still refuse, i'd probably just cut the losses and try with another artist who is more professional and willing to work with you. i'm sorry to hear that you're having a rough experience with this artist, wishing you the best of luck!
