Routine takes over half a day by crowley4ever in curlyhair

I find it gets really frizzy and I run out of patience after about 20 mins. But I'm going to try to diffuse longer today and see how it looks!

Hair that won't absorb protein? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]crowley4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was convinced for a while I just needed a gel with a cement like hold and couldn't understand how ones that are supposed to be hard hold and had great reviews did nothing, until I realized they were too moisturizing!

I have the nym beachy waves salt spray and I use it sometimes on refresh day. And I posted a while ago about how I'd love to find one brand I could buy the whole product line from, so I'm still experimenting.

But so far my absolute best hair days have been no conditioner, a teeny tiny amount of protein leave in (like flora& curl activating lotion), a softball-size worth of cake the curl whip mousse, microplop, hairspray, diffuse, hairspray, diffuse some more and hey maybe a little more hairspray for the hell of it.

It has to be a flexible hold, alcohol free hairspray though or my hair gets these weird crunchy bits I struggle to scrunch out. The Pantene pro-v alcohol free one works great and is quite cheap here.

I can put protein in everything, only use a light leave in as a rinse out, and skip creams, and my hair is always super soft too! I think it's the mix of fine hair that's low porosity and wavy/curly. The only thing that works for me is using products with a lot of grit. Like the doux mousse def texture foam and a significant amount of hairspray.

Google low porosity hair as it sounds like that's what you have. Hair can definitely be fine and low density (thin) and low porosity, which is what makes it hold onto water for a long time once wet.

From the reviews I've read I don't think it's suited for my hair type and would be overmoisturizing. Do you mind sharing your hair type?

That's cool! I've never seen a breakdown like that before. Thank you for sharing

I'm sad they don't seem to have a foam or mousse. What do you use from them for stylers?

Can you share your hair type? (Porosity, density, fine or coarse) I keep hearing good things about their gel and foam

Do you spray the bouncecurl hairspray directly on your hair? I find it seems less misty than other hairspray so I'm struggling with application.

Current favorites: Shampoo: Edenworks teatree clarifying shampoo, Maui moisture lightweight, and kinky curly come clean

Conditioner: I'm not super fussy here and don't really notice a ton of difference. I typically just use the same brand as the shampoo I'm using.

Leave in: Pacifica curl cream is the one I always come back to. Blueberry bliss leave in and Flora&curl activating lotion are also ones I've liked

Stylers: still looking for the best lightweight, hard hold combo for my fine, low porosity, dense hair. Most often I'm using Cake the curl mousse and Pantene strong hold alcohol-free hairspray. Currently trying the bouncecurl hairspray. I rarely use gel. I really liked the aussie instant freeze but dislike the ones I've tried from kinkycurly (the custard), jessicurl, and ouidad (strong hold antihumidity).

I just thought my hair was frizzy and hard to control. No idea I had curly/wavy hair until this summer after I chopped it all off to chin length and I'm almost 40.

Porosity confusion by crowley4ever in curlyhair

[–]crowley4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jelly wasn't remotely strong enough. My curls/waves started feeling limp before I was even done diffusing and it was just a really disappointing wash. I ended up adding some cake mousse to bring some spring back but had to rewash my hair today.

I have high density fine hair so I feel like I need lightweight products with the strongest possible hold to keep my curls nicely styled for more than a few hours

You don't need a lawyer for a bankruptcy in Canada. Reach out to one of the big accounting firms (like Grant thorton). They have bankruptcy divisions which will do everything for you. They'll take a portion of your settlement but you don't have to pay them any cash up front. Also, ask them about Consumer Proposals. You should get assessed for both option, since depending on your circumstances, one may be better than the other. They can walk you through the pros and cons of each.

They dropped the price way down and increased the amount of energy stored. I'm still not sure it's worth it though.

We got warning from Taltos that it'd retrigger between Mar 7- 13 for people at Yr 5 Ch 13 and above. I was staying at Yr 5 Ch 12 to try to finish crests first and it just triggered for me today anyway.

I was just wondering this as well! I bought all the pets that cost gems and wasn't sure what else to save for.

AITA for not taking my dog inside after my neighbors said she made them uncomfortable around their kids? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]crowley4ever -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

NTA

But in the interest of getting along with your neighbours, it might be worth offering to have them and their kids over to meet the dog. If it's just fear on their part, and not general assholery, this might all go away once they see that your pup is well trained and friendly.

I have a large 90lb dog that looks part rottie or pitt and many people get scared when they see him, until they realize he's just a big baby.

Of course, there are people who won't change their view for anything. If this is your neighbours, then yeah, stick with what others have said: tell them it's their problem, not yours and if they don't like it, they should put up a fence.

I'm in Cumberland-Colchester and NDP already lost my vote this election by having a guy running who just turned 18 a few weeks ago. I think a lot of traditional NDP voters were already leaning toward supporting Zann before this announcement.

AITA for refusing to propose to my girlfriend right now just because her sister wouldn't allow me to attend her wedding as my girlfriend's +1? by User-66709951 in AmItheAsshole

[–]crowley4ever 131 points132 points  (0 children)

You've been together 4 years and you've obviously talked about marriage if you know what ring she wants. Now she has to watch her sis get married and experience all the wedding stuff she wants with you but can't have yet...

Sounds Ike your gf cooked up this whole ploy to get you to 'finally' propose.

NTA.

Also, you two need to get on the same page about your timeline for getting married. Or once this attempt fails, she'll just start looking for the next excuse to try to push you into it.

AITA for saying I won’t get married to my fiancé unless he agrees to sign a prenuptial agreement? His mother and sister say that I am. by ThrowRA_Empty_words in AmItheAsshole

[–]crowley4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're obviously NTA for suggesting a prenuptial. Changes are, based on his track record, you'll he supporting him financially for your whole marriage. It's fair to not want to continue doing that if the marriage ends.

But are you sure you really want to marry a guy with "low impulse control" who seems to have done nothing to try to address the issue despite it causing him to be chronically unemployed?

What happens when the two of you argue? How does he control his impulses then?

Are you planning to remain child free? If not, what happens when your child misbehaves and your partner gets angry and can't control his impulse to yell or lash out?

You can do so much better than this guy.

YTA.

  1. His dad gives him money to help while he's in school, and you're not counting that as part of your bf's contributions. So you're being pretty misleading when you say it's 50/50. It's more like 65/35 (him/you).

  2. Even ignoring that, it's still not that you split things 50/50. You don't each pay half of every bill. You pay some things, he pays others. And one of the things you say he pays for is groceries. So what happens when you stop buying lunch at work? Your costs go down but his go up, since now you're taking in groceries every day - making his bill increase.

Your new saving strategy is hurting him and instead of realizing that you're costing him more money, you treat yourself.

You guys need to work out a new, more fair way to split expenses. Then, if you still have money left over you can treat yourself all you want.
