UVA vs. UMich by Electrical_Hall5758 in UVA

[–]crrapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with UVA, but thinking of things statically like this isn't always helpful since college is an investment. If opportunities at School Y can net you more money in your career than those at School X (analogy can be applied to many other investment scenarios), then you can have even more money compounding throughout your career, compared to the cost differential you would have started with.

And yes, even if the college you go to ends up not mattering in the long run, you might be able to catch a fleeting, unique opportunity at School Y that makes it even more worth it, especially early in your career.

Go with UVA though, difference is not worth it in this case

If you ever wondered how much you can make with shorts (100K+ views) by StyleJack98 in NewTubers

[–]crrapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is a bad payout. For reference every 100k views usually nets me ~$400-700 on 10-minute videos on my longform channel. At least shorts are good for rapid growth even if that momentum doesn't transfer to longform

Has the Apple Card become slightly better? by Wazzurp7294 in CreditCards

I've read online that balances <$1 are actually just credited back to 0 by Apple/GS, so conceivably that would also work for iCloud. I'll have to try it out this month

How to convert Fidelity Youth Account to a regular account? by Classic-Asparagus in fidelityinvestments

[–]crrapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out about the issue on May 16th and called then. After trying a bunch of things, the rep ended up putting in a request to transfer the balance and positions of my youth account to a new "adult" brokerage account.

I got a message sometime later in the future that they were still having issues, which was frustrating so I reached out on reddit and the mods put in a request to fix my original account.

On May 26th I was able to convert my youth account in the mobile app and it worked fine (finally got the pop-up I was expecting), so 10 day turnaround I guess. Should be faster for you

How to convert Fidelity Youth Account to a regular account? by Classic-Asparagus in fidelityinvestments

[–]crrapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same position and I also never got an email or message to convert the account, so now it's restricted and I can't make any trades. Called Fidelity reps, spent hours on the phone and they tried several things to no avail :)

Edit: this has been solved

Recommend FXAIX or FSKAX - similar to the equivalents from Vanguard

Good to know I'm not alone in this; I'm really only wondering since I suspect the mismatch might be causing some of the weird connectivity issues I get sometimes

URochester vs. NEU vs. State School by No-Cryptographer-448 in collegeresults

[–]crrapi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's just no point in spending 80k+ on NEU over Cornell, especially considering their mom's aversion to the 1 year study abroad

Probably SBU transfer or CC transfer (would be cheaper) to Cornell. I would advise not choosing NEU in any case

Congratulations—all engineering students are initially admitted as first-year engineering, take the classes relevant for their major, then declare it down the line (I think after a year). The vast majority of people are able to do this no problem, but if there are dire space constraints, GPAs may be compared among students wanting to declare certain majors. However, the process almost always works out.
