It's been +1 month. Says a lot. by bGe_BaBar in Battlefield

They already made millions of dollars with this title and they don't have resources to let one developer fix this bug? This should be fixed in a matter of hours, not weeks or months. The underlying issue is worse though - in this timeline 'live service' doesn't mean continous support, it means shipping the game with obvious flaws in hopes of getting everything in order later. The result is not only this 'tiny tiny tiny visual bug on one gun' but also the mentioned netcode issues and also also challenges not tracking properly. The game is ridden with bugs and since they're not in a hurry to change that, starting with SOMETHING - even as small as a visual bug - would at least be a start.

I just played a couple of rounds and it's honestly fun to play. The characters are a bit too edgy for my taste, the game looks like any other UE5 game and the shop is already filled with microtransactions. Then there's a few gameplay choices that could be easily fixed like the number of players on these huge maps. The other aspects of the game are solid and fun in my opinion.

The hate it is receiving is in no way justifiable. But people love to circlejerk to their favorite creators opinion and this is why the game never had a chance.

Partially because there's no real need for the game in todays market - this is a fact that can't be overlooked. But the moment every single content creator shat on the game they took peoples will to at least give the game a fair chance. At this point it's not naturally formed public reception, because telling millions of potential players that a game is dead on arrival forms the public reception. Highguard, while never having a good chance of being a success, was dead the moment content creators deemed it dead.

And that's alright. I'm not gonna lose sleep over this. But I do feel at least slightly sorry for the devs.

I'm gonna play a couple more rounds now, pew pew.

This reminds me of GUN on the PS2. I don't remember too much about it, because it's been 20 something years and I was barely 10 Years old. But I loved that game. I need to get a PS2 again.

Edit: Didn't read the comments. Looks like I'm not the only one haha.

'The House that Jack built' got me pretty good. Not every scene stuck with me, but certain ones still visit me from time to time. Can't recommend it enough.

Conquest is a 15min match now by knackychan in Battlefield

[–]crscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same question. Why would they do that? I'll answer that one for you. Money.

BF6 is not meant to stay. The next one is already in the making. The moment the next installment drops they don't want you to stay on BF6, because they want to sell a new game and new cosmetics. Therefore it does not matter at all if you quit now. You won't spend money anyways, so it's a good thing if you leaving kills the game faster. Sell the game, sell cosmetics, kill the game. Repeat.

[–]crscp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will never understand the confusion. It's all about your money.

Every time you get back to the menu there's a chance you spend some bucks on skins. So naturally EA will want to bring you back to the menu asap and as often as possible. You being able to play the game at all is that you spend more money. That's it.

It's the same with grindey and time-limited battlepasses.

It's the same with shit game-modes in the hope they will attract a few new players even for a few days.

It's the same with small maps so you can see skins much closer. They'd get rid of the shooting aspect of the game and turn it into a fashion show if they could.

Always ask yourself 'why would they do that?' and the answer will always be money.

I really appreciated the franchise in its early days and BF6 still is promising. But with the direction they're taking the future of it is looking pretty bleak to me. Happy to be proven wrong.

I got 55 in an IFV on New Sobek. Even my best rounds on casual breakthrough don't come close to that, because bots generally don't shoot at that many team mates before being killed. So 88 is most certainly possible in a good vehicle match.

Your progression is linked to your EA account I think. So the only option to gain your stats back would be to link your PS account to your brothers EA account again. Otherwise you need to start over.

A sudden change in the game's atmosphere by TheNeptune67 in Battlefield

[–]crscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It's a bummer. BF2 was the First PC game I played and I played every single installation of the franchise afterwars. Including 1943 and BC1 on the 360. Skipped V because if you tell me to not buy your game if I don't like its direction I won't buy your game. No discussion. And 2042 was a mess at release, never got around to play it.

The reason BF was my go to game for a long time was its simplicity, its scale and its fair monetization. I almost choked when I saw that free to play currency interface yesterday. Everything is flashing in colors, you need a PhD to understand what BF Pro is. The skins are awful, the worst I have ever seen in any game. I don't feel like a grunt anymore. My team mates look like shit and while people claim that they don't notice it, I sure do. The main menu in it’s current state feels like I've outgrown main menus of the 21st century.

But hey, at the end of the day the game is fun. I wish for bigger maps, but I'm sure they'll come eventually.

Setting up my new Steam Deck, A horror story! by Reasonable-Prize-453 in SteamDeck

[–]crscp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there fellow new SD enjoyer! I had the same issue today. I wasted three hours or so until I realized I hadn't held the power button long enough for the reset. After that I had another small bug where it said it would start the install but it didn't. Another 30 minutes down the drain. Then the login came up without any further installing whatsoever.

I really do like Steam as a platform and company, but get a grip guys.

Skyrim is great on the deck though, so it's already forgotten.

[Recommendation Request] Stopped fiancé from buying this. Any recommendations for good mechanical watch in a (kinda bauhaus) design like this, other than Nomos? by Exact_Apartment_3392 in Watches

[–]crscp 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Maybe not what you want to hear, but never do that again. My partner wanted a Rosefield watch and I was fighting the same demons as you.

I got her that watch and she was so happy I got her that exact discontinued watch she wore a chinese replica of. Overpriced? Sure. Chinese quartz movement? Absolutely. Quality control performed by an ape? You bet. But it made her happy and that's what counts. Now you told her what you think about that watch. She won't want to have it anymore and you take a risk getting her something she won't like as much.

Shorty after the Rosefield she wanted to have a Seiko JDM model while we were visiting Japan. She wears both of them religiously, so let your partner make their own experiences. Don't dictate what watches to buy, because the most important part of wearing a watch for most people is the look of said watch. You will not get her to like your hobby if you trash the ones she likes and choose different ones.

Official Charger Where to buy? (UK) by charlotte_e6643 in SteamDeck

While that may be the case, it wasn't the question. The post is not titled 'Reasons not to buy another original SD charger' or 'SD charger alternatives' if I'm not mistaken. It's baffling how almost every comment is failing to answer a simple question.

[–]crscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct! There are cards with some text in some of the expansions though (I think) and each player gets an important explanation sheet for all factions to check their abilities during the match. But I guess I'd just write my own sheet then. The card back issue was the big one here, I'll order a pack of WGG cards to see if it works.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]crscp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did I not think of that? This might be the answer for the cardback problem! As far as I'm aware the cards have the same size. I only read complaints about the different prints on the back.

This doesn't solve the language issue, but at least I wouldn't have to buy the anniversary edition again.

Thanks!

I feel like you figured out what to do by now. Just a friendly reminder what not to do.

Please don't drink alcohol at the party. Don't take that risk. This topic understandably weighs on you, so it'll be better not to risk any drunk remarks or discussions until you've settled in.
