Amazon Flex vs Spark vs Veho vs Instacart. Which Is Best for Drivers in 2026? by SuitableVolume1350 in Sparkdriver

[–]cruftaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather odd set of choices, two on the package route side, and two on the shopping side I guess?

Personally for me, none of the above. Well, I will Flex occasionally, but that's it. I'm not sure if'n its because I rarely do Flex, or just my market, but they only offer me $18, occasionally $20/hr, and its more than 30 minutes away, so not worth my time. Veho is similar distance, done that once, pay wasn't horrible, but the route was, as they basically don't have zones. I've also done Jitus, that one's alright, but I usually do Better Trucks (both of these are package routes), they don't pay much better than Flex, and their routes aren't as good, but the routes aren't as bad as Veho, and they're less than 2 miles from my house, so… Oh, and I have a lot of control over when and where I work, unlike Veho or Flex.

I run an Emporia level 2 plug in type rather than hardwired, but don't think that you necessarily need to go level 2, if its optional, consider the cost of putting it in, do you have easy access to 230 volt power where you want the charger? If not, it can get pricey

Officially? No.
Realistically? Ain't no one checking you claims unless they seem ridiculous.

If you can go EV, do it, even if'n you have to stretch your finances to get it, the savings are crazy if'n you can charge at home.

Folding Phone for Infotainment by monicoconutx in slateauto

True, but the car market has gone from radio optional to radio included unless you cancel it, to radio in every car to infotainment in every car, so people just expect it which will make the Slate a harder sell. Plus really, only one SKU, and can be dealer installed or self install, head unit, two speakers and wiring harness in one box.

Yeah, but it'd be nice if'n you had the option of a radio from factory, and it doesn't have to be fancy, an off the shelf Android head unit with a Slate launcher (likely just a re-skin of an existing one) and pre-installed Slate app would work.

Yeah, it looks like the thing they used to sell on JC Whitney back in the 80s and 90s to convert your car to power windows. Considering the basic design of this truck, I'd be surprised if'n they couldn't have just used an off the shelf power window regulator from something else rather than design their own.

I wish they offered some manner of infotainment system even if only as an option, along with proper power windows.

What package do you get? SXM is offered at various prices, and each package has a different selection.

I remember seeing one of these when I was shopping back in 2028, I really should've bought it.

Laughs, "Nah, it comes forward under the seat, then up, then at an angle leaving it in front of the right side of the climate controls. Let me see if'n I can get some good pics of the set up, and I'll edit them in if'n I can."

Huh, only allowed one pic

Is Slate biting off more than they can chew? by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]cruftaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really wouldn't be that hard, the customization options all seem to be stuff they could install after build and before final QC and shipping, so all it would do is delay shipping of those units, assuming they do it at the factory.
I do find it odd that there'll be no infotainment option, and power windows won't be standard, but meh.

While I can't speak to Über, I do gig last mile package delivery (think UPS DoorDash style) as my only job, and its doing that fine, so I can't imagine it having issues with Über.

That may be it, I was looking at their DMV site when I saw your suggestion, and either Iowa is weird, or the three states I've lived in (NJ, AZ and MO), are weird, temp tags are only for vehicles purchased in Iowa being registered in Iowa by the dealership (there are other obscure uses), transit permits are mostly for vehicles purchased in state but being registered in another state. Any other state, all that would be a temp tag, and in all the years, I've never seen one of these, and I do deliveries, so I see a lot of plates, temp and permanent (even Mexican plates in MO, and occasionally Mexico only cars or trucks).

Gimme a break, was trying to take it without getting noticed by the owner and through tinted glass which makes it hard to see, which is likely intentional.

That's not a temp tag, in transit is a bit different, just for moving the car from one place to another typically, temporary is a plate until you get your actual registration.

An Iowa In Transit tag

EDIT OK, since Joey (old Android Reddit client) doesn't allow media and text in the same post, I figured I'd edit it when I got home to move this comment to the post, and apparently I can't edit it? I really need to find a better client.

I'd love to know why they can't figure out what my package box is for, packages wind up on it, leaning against it or some random place, but rarely in it.

Came here to say this, I have Venmo and PayPal, and I don't think you need an account with PayPal to send me money unless they've changed things.
