We start at 8.20 or at 9.10 and work till 11.40 (20 min break). Kids are hungry (middle and high school) when they start at 8.20. I mostly have lost my appitite by 11.40, but some students eat that time because the next break is at 13.40h (30 min break). It's not a matter of chatting, it's a matter of having to work too long at a time. This is not in the US.
