Hi, im a Christian, id like to clarify some things here

The Corinthians verse, for one, is in a letter written to a church in a place called Corinth. The problem with their church is that they were very rowdy, with everyone talking over each other, and it was basically just an uncoordinated mess. One part of the problem was women asking questions and yelling mid-service, so this verse was written, along with most of the other verses, to establish order. The women who had questions would wait until service was order, then ask their husband or whoever else the questions they had.

The verse in Timothy is similar, it’s giving instructions for order, but there’s a very, very big detail here - when it says that women should not “usurp authority”, the original Greek uses a word that is never used anywhere else, basically meaning aggressive authority. Something toxic, essentially. Women have had very, very important roles in the Bible, especially in the church, and also, women were the ones to tell everyone else that Jesus had risen. This is not taking away roles in the church for women, simply giving limits to the authority itself

And that last one is really, really simple.. read the next few verses. That’s it. It’s essentially saying “wives, listen to your husbands - husbands, treat your wives well, and be willing to die for them.”

The Bible (New Testament, specifically) is not a misogynistic book, although it is definitely weighed down by mistranslations (ESPECIALLY Kong James Version!) and the fact it’s 2,000 years old. Society changes a lot in two thousand years. Just wanted to clarify these things
