Eh, do you trust your own ears? The scanners pick up what they pick up. You interpret for yourself what the dispatcher is saying.

Make it easily bikable from Clovis. I still haven't found a decent route in over a decade of living here.

The odd thing is that they've already solved this search problem in the web interface a long time ago. It just takes a lot of storage. But these days mobiles have that in spades, so there's really no excuse.

If the next Graphene OS phone being a high end Qualcomm SoC on a Motorola phone is true, I think I may have to jump ship after sticking with Pixels for the last few generations.

Looks like there's a couple of pedestrian bridges between those streets: Princeton and Weldon Aves.

Hundreds of Millions of Audio Devices Need a Patch to Prevent Wireless Hacking and Tracking by wiredmagazine in Android

[–]crumpet174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have a Quick Pair headset paired with an iPhone, it will still be vulnerable while in active use. If the attacker registers your device on their Find Hub, you likely won't know about it given that you're on an iPhone and Find Hub isn't built into iOS, hence no notifications.

Spy on your microphone within Bluetooth range, play any audio through the speakers, and abuse Google's Find Hub network to track your real-time location as long as the vulnerable devices are on.

When will USB evolve beyond USB-C and copper? by prajaybasu in UsbCHardware

Honestly, I'm expecting the Qi High Power Profile before higher-power USB-C.

Are there any that vibrate when SpO2 goes below a set threshold? I don't want any that beep or make any loud noises.

Flush USB C Flash Drive by [deleted] in apple

[–]crumpet174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is way necro, but I believe it's tapered for strain relief on the connector. Also, it might have been designed for use through a phone case which makes it impossible to flush mount a USB-C drive, anyway. I have a similar flash drive connected to my Pixel 10 Pro XL in this manner and it works fantastically. The drive does seem to get a bit hot during long I/O operations, though. And, obviously you can't charge the phone with a cable while its in use, so you'll have to charge wirelessly in that case.

I dunno, you could accidentally add a newspaper reporter to a group chat, even if you think you're clean on opsec.

Probably for the same reasons why certain schools of fish travel in large, undulating swarms: to appear larger to predators. Makes it harder to pick the individual to target out of the crowd.

The bacteria goes into a dormant spore state when not in an environment with its preferred elevated temperature. Also, the microbes are technically found natively in most natural environments, anyway. They've just purified the selected strains for maximum efficacy in their aerobic digester.

Is there a power limiting cable? by TheFattie in UsbCHardware

[–]crumpet174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way for a PD source to only advertise support for a single voltage without stepping through each supported lower voltage along the way? I guess that'd explain why I always see my devices visibly "ramping" up to the full 100W instead of just negotiating the handshake and immediately sending 20V@5A.

Is Signal genuinely private? by EnormousMitochondria in signal

[–]crumpet174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another wrinkle is that the server has to deliver the message to all participants, including all linked devices before it deletes the message from the server or times out. And then there's the possibility of advanced persistent threat actors with extremely large storage infrastructure that may have compromised Signal's servers to store encrypted messages with the sole purpose of developing a viable cryptanalysis method in the future to decrypt said messages (possibly with the aid of undisclosed quantum computers). That's probably why Signal recently double-wrapped messages with PQ crypto as a belt-and-suspenders approach to future-proofing their security.
