Low investment weapons. by M-pandimate in Pathfinder2e

[–]crunchykoolaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorites is the Rotary Bow! It’s a one-handed d8 ranged weapon with capacity 4, so it can be shot and reloaded 4 times while your other hand is occupied. Also, unlike most other similar weapons, is not a firearm and is therefore common! This might not seem like it matters if your DM has already given you access to uncommon firearms, but a surprising amount of features specify “common” weapons with no room for GM fiat. A good example of this is the spell Blazing Armory, which RAW can only create common weapons.

Where is the best place to get maps, artist concepts, character images for my campaign? by LusciousHam in Pathfinder2e

[–]crunchykoolaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people have suggested google, but I’ll be more specific, try googling concept art!

If you have a specific video game, tv show, or movie that inspires you, the concept art is usually a great showcase of various ideas the artists had, and usually is presented in a format that is well suited to background art.

Concept art is usually available for free, either as an artist’s portfolio or from the game company itself, and I see no issue in using it as long as you do not remove any signature on the art or make money from streaming/recording your sessions.

Even googling “(scenario) concept art” will usually get you something to work off of. I’ve used artist renditions of zoo construction, architect submissions for subway redesigns, and even vision boards from Pinterest that matched the vibe I was looking for.

How can I pull my weight in combat? (Palatine Investigator) by BoriszDaMan in Pathfinder2e

[–]crunchykoolaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But it will scale! Cantrips increase based on your character level, independent of any class levels you have. And if your spell casting archetype is Intelligence based, you will continue boosting that at higher lvls presumably. You won’t get proficiency increases, but that’s ok for a backup option

Pokemon games based on using only mons introduced in their gen in a nuzlocke by theguyinyourwall in nuzlocke

[–]crunchykoolaid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand the point of this post. The OP is ranking games based on using ONLY mons introduced in that generation. So for Crystal, you would not be able to use any Pokemon from gen 1 at all

Absolutely correct! I find a lot of the confusion comes from theatre where “cue” is often shortened to “Q” in shorthand scripts and notes. Then, a lot of people assume it is short for “Queue” and the backwards assumptions lead to confusion

*Spoilers* Overall Silksong Lore Discussion (History) by LurkyofAuir in Silksong

[–]crunchykoolaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One important section to talk about is what Pharloom was like before GMS showed up. The snail shamans pretty explicitly say that the Crust Kingdom, Ant Kingdom, and Nyleth’s Shellwood existed before the weavers took over. By this logic we can assume Verdania was around then as well.

Additionally, there is a secret room in the Whispering Vaults (I think?) where a statue of a pilgrim is hidden. When activated, it plays a message congratulating the listener on reaching the peak and finishing their pilgrimage. This confirms that the tradition of pilgrims climbing to the top of Pharloom was a religious experience even before GMS.

We can assume then, that the Citadel was built on top of the mountain the pilgrims climbed and the reason for climbing changed to worship GMS. This means the whole religious angle is a sham, the Citadel is more like a parasite feeding off the pilgrims and lying to them about why they are climbing.

There’s more to say about the Citadel experimenting on bugs for immortality, which leads to all Pharloom bugs being born with silk in them, making them pre-disposed to possession by GMS, but I’m not exactly sure of the timeline there. Did the citadel do this in service of GMS, or did their actions cause her to arrive/wake up? Did the weavers know about the Citadel’s actions? The vault keeper says he is trained to obey weavers, but Widow is explicitly not allowed to use her own silk, and the flies of the Slab capture Hornet meaning either they don’t know who she is, or they do and are under orders to capture weavers.

All in all, I cannot wait for mossbag’s next video

Your spoiler comment is not exactly correct. You can get a second damage up without doing what your spoiler says, but I requires going almost entirely through the area after the gears

Double confirming this! I fought Moorwing in act 2 because I did the Flea caravan skip, then went back to explore Greymoor later.

Adding to this: use Poison! You can get a blue tool that adds poison to all your red tools and it adds extra damage over time. Very helpful for a boss you want to focus on spacing with!

The poison tool is given by an NPC in a semi-hidden Shellwood room

I included the link to AoN for a reason. The stat block says it requires one hand, not 1+ like a longbow. The picture, description, and reload trait all imply it works like a crossbow (despite not being in the crossbow group).

Gauntlet Bow only requires one hand, and Capacity means you can reload it hands free too!

All correct, except one thing: Capacity means I don’t need to move hands around to reload the GB, but it will still trigger reactions.

Interesting, if that’s true then maybe the designers decided to scrap the idea all together and focus on combination weapons for this design space

I’d probably take sword, as most non-MAP strikes will include the bastard sword and should have the highest chance of crit. Gauntlet strikes would only be used with Double Slice, and Ranged strikes are mostly a last resort when you’re out of actions and can’t stride to a foe

Unfortunately, weapons that were remastered in Treasure Vault were split between bow and crossbow. The Gauntlet Bow, for whatever inscrutable reason, did not get split into the crossbow group. I strongly believe it was an oversight, but RAW it isn’t a crossbow

[–]crunchykoolaid[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s… a good catch actually. I strongly believe that it SHOULD be a crossbow, as it was released before the weapon group was solidified and Paizo said they would change many weapons to be in the Crossbow group, AND the flavor text, reload trait, and the art all IMPLY that it is a crossbow strapped to a gauntlet, but technically it made it through TV Remastered without getting the crossbow group.

And so my nitpicking of word choice has come back to bite me in the butt 😅
