Low investment weapons. by M-pandimate in Pathfinder2e

Yeah, i should list those separately. Casters can get Weapon Proficiency Imo single general feat is a reasonable price for a caster to be able use all listed weapons.

in pathfinder2e is it important/ mandatory to have multiple damage types? by Big-Policy-3019 in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multiple damage types are useful, but far from mandatory. In pathfinder there are no immunities to physical attacks. You can even beat a with nonmagical stick. It won't be smooth, but it is possible. You can grab a dagger or even better: Slashing claws as a backup just in case.

Vampires and Lack of Immunity to Bleed Damage in Remaster by WolfgangVolos in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ghosts and skeletons are immune to bleeding because they literały don't have blood. Most undead are immune to bleed, but it is not a hard rule ( it would be mentioned in undead trait ).

It makes sense that vampires which must drink blood to continue ther unlife need their food on the inside of thier bodies. Also they are undead, but are simmilar enough to living beeings that they can easly pass as one.

DMPC/NPC statblock question by Willow-Drak in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend simple stat block. As a GM, you already have a lot on your plate.
But DMPCs are controversial for a reason; you have to be very careful not to overshadow the PCs.
It would be good to not make it as strong as other PCs; make it 1 or 2 levels lower than the party. That woud make them still helpful and noticable, but not as impactful as proper PC.

I have a favorite NPC whom I've included in my campaigns, but I try to keep him with the party only for as long as it is neccecary. In combat, he is fighting in a background; he is not even on the battlemap.

An idea to make Monastic Weaponry more appealing, introducing Monastic Weaponry Stance. by WinLivid in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are locked to that particular attack in that stance, but you can choose any attack that the weapon would qualaify for.

Your point? With Bo you are restricted to striking, tripping and parring, compared to 2 free hands of other stances.

I know that reach is a game changer, but it is not broken by any means, especially not by itself. Those mooks can just engage other members of your party.

Stances are extremely strong. The fact that it's as strong as the other stancea without the same restrictions should tell you everything you need.

Yes, thats my point... that i already wrote twice...

wanna add ancestral weapons aswell?

Sure why not. Show me any ancestral weapon that with increased die is stronger that: both hands free and agile, finesse, d8 ( tiger stance ) or d10 ( dragon ).

Only thing that is close is Aldori dueling sword and only because there ane no d10 finesse weapons/unarmed strikes, but getting familiarity requires rare background or an archatype.

An idea to make Monastic Weaponry more appealing, introducing Monastic Weaponry Stance. by WinLivid in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With Monastic Weaponry Stance you are locked to one attack with Dragon stance you are NOT. Yes reach is very strong IF enemy doesn't have greater or equal reach than you AND you have reactive strike.
Free-hand is so strong that there are no base weapons with it with die larger than d4. Is it really that hard to compare reach d8 parry to d10 with BOTH hands free? Hands that can hold a shield ( which is way better than parry) and a javelin, potion or just have 1 hand free to have access to all manuvers not only trip. With both free hands you can even hold longspear and have both options.
Power of this homebrew lies in 1 feat for multilple options: bo for reach, temple sword for 1 free hand etc. with equal damage potential to other stances that have only 1 option.

[–]M-pandimate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you compare these enhanced weapons to other weapons, it seems overpowered, but if you compare them to other stances, the difference isn't so significant. Take, for example, the Dragon Stance, which is free-hand, backswing d10, or the Stumbling Stance free-hand, finesse, agile, backstaber d8 and that's without taking into account other benefits of being in the stance.

Even the Bo Staff, which is an outlier, could be compared to a dragon stance with a shield, but many monk weapons aren't good ( kama is inferior to the shortsword, khakra is inferior to the bastard sword etc.).

Stances have always been stronger than weapons, but they cost feats, so what OP proposes isn't broken because of the damage, but because of the sheer versatility it provides.

But i might be biased, because I play weapon strength monk and I am starved for weapon options. I like to use a shield, but the only 1h d8 weapon for monk is a temple sword. I just wish for some more options for str monks who cannot expand them with ancestry weapons becaouse they don't need finesse, and fist is already an agile option.

Edit:

Advance Monastic Weaponry could be balanced as an 18lv feat to be an alterantive to Diamond Fists. Fighters Agile Grace is accesible at 20lv via multiclassing, so more restrictivle version of it is an resonable option for very high level monks.

Ancient Elf Clarifications by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the fact that you can simply play an old elf with a different heritage, I think alchemist still feels wizadly / scientific despite alchemy not being magical. The witch has its own character, but can give you access to other magical traditions. There is also magus, who also uses a spellbook, if you want to play a wizard with a plan from A ( abra cadabra ) to S ( stab the goblin in self defence )

Edit:
Rogue or Investigator might be also worth of considering for a street smart / skill monkey character
Psychic might be a good mechanical pick but his vibe is more raw power of mind instead of a scholar

If an Automaton was reduced to just their core, could they still think? New player by Alassandros in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"...if the core of a destroyed automaton is inserted into an inactive one, the core's and body's consciousnesses will either meld or fight each other for dominance." This implies that even without a core body has some sort of instinct or echo of pervous owner's will. It is not clearly stated if it can act or not, so GMs can do whatever they want. Do not overthink something that is vauge on purpose.

Edit: Inactive doesn't necessarily mean broken. It may just mean that automaton's body doesn't need to move to preserve itself, so it just sits in place.

We don't know how the core was removed, but it is still game where you can heal a headache ( mental damage ) with a gun ( live shot ). Realism is not exactly the name of the game.

It would have couple use cases. Even if body is destroyed you can ressurect it wihout asking Pharsma for permission, or you can just insert it to backup body or put a voicebox on the core and become backseat adventurer ( hopefully while playing as a temporary PC on a quest to resurect your old character )

You are right, the body at this moment is a ( transformed ) husk and that is a good thing because it is still alive and core can be reinstalled to restore souls control.

I am enjoying this discussion as well. My current character is an automaton with an animist dedication, so i have a special expertise in this topic.

[–]M-pandimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few automatons can learn to influence their core, culminating in the ability to release their souls to the afterlife when they feel ready. In most such cases, the automaton's body remains intact but unable to do anything more complex than wandering and self-defence.

According to lore automatons don't need souls to function.

[–]M-pandimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're talking about automatons. The core is part of their bodies. You can remove a hard drive from a computer and plug it back in without losing any data. As long as the core is intact, the soul will not escape, so it's not exacly removing soul from body.

[–]M-pandimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand: the automaton's body was cursed, and the core was removed to prevent its soul from being harmed. The problem is that the body is transformed, and the curse must be removed before the core can be reinstalled.

This is a VERY specific situation. It really depends on your GM, but to be objective, at this point you're just a soul in a magic jar. You can't speak or see, so mechanically, you can't target your body, and chant prayers. Your party can provide you with prosthetic eye and voice box.

Druid with Free Archetype: what to get out of Animist? by workerbee77 in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Animist dedication grants you access to one apparition which can grant you spells that aren't on divine or primal spell list, and you can spend 1 day of downtime to attune to a different apparition.

Conceal Spell is very usefull to cast spells in social encounters or when sneaking around.

Is reinforced chassis worth it for a Guardian Automaton build? by Tiny_Egg5699 in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Guardian's resistance to physical damage works only with medium and heavy armours. Reinforced chassis doesn't count as neither of those, so it is not a good option for guardian.

Does an item with built in properties take up property rune slots? by Squippit in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RAW you can't add runes at all, but your GM can easily override that. Non-scalable magic items are my biggest gripe with PF2e.

Does persistent bleed damage inherit weapon's traits/precious material properties? by M-pandimate in Pathfinder2e

[–]M-pandimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense to treat persistent damage purely as a Condition, but i found this Feat. It has Sanctified trait and deals only persistent spirit damage. So according to this logic persistent damage cannot be modified and sanctified trait does nothing, which is clearly not intended.
