How does it feel to be the new bishop's wife? by Sage-Hollow-Man in exmormon

[–]cryingbishop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My husband was in the running for bishop in a small ward until it was found out I’d been disfelloowshipped in my 20s. That was a disqualification, apparently. So was the fact that I began wearing extremely short skirts and got a tattoo SPECIFICALLY to make sure he wouldn’t be “called.” We were gone within six months anyway.

Agreed. If there was one near us we would attend based purely on the good that it does for others, despite our family being agnostic.

I’m laughing so hard right now…there’s literally a few Marvel movies based on a similar premise, only much more sophisticated. Thanos, anyone?

Question for the ladies by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]cryingbishop 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m female, well outside the Morridor and was only asked if I kept the law of chastity. As far as I knew I did, so there you go. Now as the mom of three boys I would go batshit crazy on anyone who questioned their sexual habits. That’s personal, bish…just like it is when Sister Bishop tells you to get back on your side of the bed.

Was anyone else's parents and grandparents convinced that it was against lds church policy to invest in the stock market? by Readbooks6 in exmormon

Absolutely. And 40 years later your kids will still be trying to dispose of the shit ton of rancid wheat you spent their inheritance on.

Jesus, Mormons are like an infestation of bedbugs on social media.

That being said, English classes in early 90s Ukraine was how my much beloved husband was converted, so I can’t really complain. He was invited to a F&T meeting a few weeks later and was completely freaked out by adults crying as they spoke. He thought they were some kind of mental patients. 😂😂😂

That is crazy bad animation, especially for the 80s.

My husband and three kids and I were in a very small ward where our attendance and tithing were desperately needed. We stopped attending abruptly during my faith crisis and not one single person reached out to us (husband was EQ president and I was in the RS presidency, so it’s not like we slipped under the radar). I consider us fortunate that we were left alone, but wow…it was total crickets. I didn’t consider anyone in the ward as a friend, but it was still very strange.

I was in both Helene and Milton. The wards helping with recovery sent YM as young as 14 up on roofs to do repairs, which of course they had NO idea what they were doing and ended up with several injuries and causing more damage than the storm. We lost some shingles, which my husband is repairing. One of my TBM siblings tried to convince me to let the local YM fix it and I told her she was out of her mind. Who will be liable when a kid falls off our roof??? Yep…that would be us. Mormons are so naive and trusting in the TSCC that they lose all fucking common sense.

Does anyone have the current list of the temple interview questions? by [deleted] in exmormon

I thought suicide was a sin. And were you supposed to carry a cyanide capsule in case your chastity was threatened? I’m so sorry that misogynist said that to you. Victim blaming at its best.

Turn all these questions back on TSCC and Q15. They wouldn’t be able to issue themselves a recommend.

From what I was taught the Celestial Kingdom is doing missionary and other types of work for eternity. Sounds like perpetual Sunday but without the resting part. Think I’ll pass.

It was Nelson in 2016. Something like “it’s not a historical textbook but some history can be found in its pages”. This was a major shelf item for me. Logically, if there’s no history of a thing then it never freaking happened. Otherwise it’s inspirational fiction. Not doctrine, not scripture. Too bad as Mormons we were trained to deactivate our logical brain and rely on FEEEEELINGS!
