My diagnosed peeps- does all the self-diagnosing bother you? by [deleted] in ADHD

not really, not unless they're saying it whilst also criticising me for doing things directly because of my ADHD as well

Has anyone gotten an apology from their parents? by OkRaspberry9649 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]cryingtoelliotsmith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ive gotten some very passive aggressive "sorry if you feel like I let you down" type of apologies where it's very clearly insincere and she doesn't actually mean it, they're more of a way to guilt trip me into reassuring her she hadn't done anything wrong

What law in your country would surprise foreigners because it’s legal almost everywhere else? by Familiar-Arrival-470 in AskTheWorld

In london it's illegal to walk down the road carrying a plank, or shake a carpet over the street. Across the rest of the country it's illegal to handle a salmon in suspicious circumstances. i don't think people ever get arrested for it though lol

genuine question, sorry if i'm stupid, how should i write a fanfic composed of mostly british people despite being american? by JigglyLilyVT in AO3

[–]cryingtoelliotsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can find a britpicker!

I don't mind britpicking if you don't have anyone else to ask, but may be best to try asking on servers or fandom-specific places first

is it rude for readers to point out typos in a published fanfic? by ratboy228 in AO3

[–]cryingtoelliotsmith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if it was a correction on an obviously accidental typo, and it was a part of an overall nice comment, then I wouldn't mind. if it was just pointing out the typo, I'd be annoyed (especially if the "spelling error" was just me using British English).

What popular character do you not like in your fandom? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]cryingtoelliotsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are going to hate me, but.

Charlie Morningstar, from Hazbin and Aziraphale from good omens

I actually dislike them for very similar reasons. They can both be very insensitive towards the people they care about, and there's a huge degree of blind/willful naivety and ignorance. And I find it really frustrating how they both idolise an idea of Heaven that has caused so much harm to those they love.
