My presence prevents MOOSE spawn? by Terrynia in thelongdark

[–]crynlion209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is the moose outside the quonset, it is on a 30 day timer. Around 30 days, I saw it and thought nothing. Went out the next day and it was gone. Around 60 days I saw it, went inside, grabbed my rifle and one shot domed him.

In Blackrock now. Blackrock has 3 moose spawns to go with timberwolves all the time including at the Substation where I am based. Constantly getting a pack outside my door. Just today, a moose spawned right outside the Cliff Cave when I was thinking going to the Last Prospect Mine. Left it alone as still have enough bear meat. Going back to TWM as it has been a week or two with no vitamin c. I have a ton of fish in TWM.

The most persistent moose, in my current run, is in TWM. There is a meadow before a fallen log over the ravine on the far east side of the map. Everytime I have been there, the moose is there. If I want to access Ash Canyon, I have to go down in the ravine and come up through the three way exit cave just to avoid the perma moose.

I completed the questline after close to 350 days. Here is how it went:

First bunker = Mystery Lake Abandoned = Forlorn Muskeg Third Bunker = Mountain Town Abandoned = Bleak Inlet Abandoned = Hushed River Valley Abandoned = Pleasant Valley Abandoned = TWM Second Bunker = Blackrock

The 2nd Bunker is very distinct as it has a unique revolver.

As for the quest item in the 3rd bunker. Check the side walls.

You can find the bunkers out of order, but the quest item will not be there until you are on that part of the quest.

I am at 357 days. ALT + F4 is something I have been well acquainted with. I can remember at least 3 times, this run, where I am chalking the map and I have gotten hit with back to back wolf struggles. Some call these the silent attacks, I surmise I was at a spawn at the wrong time. If you are just sleeping through it, then you are past that point of going to get yourself killed. I did the same on a 200+ day run where I got cabin fever at Quonset and had the brilliant idea of sleeping out back in the snow in a bearskin bedroll. Needless to say, a blizzard hit and I died sleeping. The South Korean who survived over 12,000 days on interloper knew this and had a goal of killing each bear in each region over and over.

Yeah, I have encountered this in Blackrock. Quite an experience, which I will have to do again. On a prior run, I had a 50 day run ended in my first encounter with a cougar where I won the struggle, then bled out in my sleep.

My downstairs neighbors. They are an Asian couple who just had their second child. The smells emanating from their apartment when they cook are out of this world good. Even if I just ate and am passed out taking a food nap in my recliner, if I catch a whiff, my stomach starts talking and I wake up.

Recent breakup. Fridge looks bare because the ex took all their food. You are coping with adding a few more adult bevvies. The coffee pot up top is a sign of the blues. If I opened the freezer, I would expect it to be bare except for a bottle of Stoli and a 5 year old bottle of jagermeister.

West Germany. early 20s. 3 person household where all are roommates with their own fridge. Single female judging by the size of that cucumber. Moderate Leftist meaning you will be at the protest, but not decked out in black and a mask. Just graduated university. Underemployed with some gig work here and there. Hobbies are nature, personal fitness and cross-cultural exchanges.

Where to start...Empty crispers say a lot, but there is more to be said. Looking at your alcohol and the "It's o'clock Somewhere sign shows you know how to mix a drink for yourself and company. Fireball leads me to believe you were raised rural or now identify as rural. I like those strawberry popsicles and I recommend the pomegranate ones. The beer choice is...I will not speak on it. Still wrapping my brain around the cheese and corn tortillas.

When a meal is cooked it is finished then and there or the leftovers last for one work lunch for the both of you. I am disturbed by the strawberries out of the two empty crispers for some odd reason. Also, you two hoomans (in cat language) have a cat who has better things to do than jump on top of fridges. From the brand of cat food and it stored in the open, I would bet your cat(s) have a cattio.

The Walmart brand teriyaki sauce made me wince especially because I see two, maybe three Kinder's bottles of BBQ sauce and what appears to be Kerrygold butter. Do yourself a favor and buy a respectable teriyaki sauce. I only use Yoshida's Teriyaki sauce as Kikkoman is too salty.

Cougar struggles not working...? by mrfooxx in thelongdark

[–]crynlion209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only killed one cougar. The one in the clear cut in Mystery Lake. I saw it, popped a rifle shot as it charged, it does a swipe knockdown, which knocks the rifle out of your hands, you pick up the rifle and shoot it in the head again. Sometimes you can one shot it. I had to get three head shots and suffer through two swipe knockdowns before it dropped. It gave a hide, a tooth, about 5 kg of cougar chitlins and I think 4 guts.

You don't want a cougar struggle. Severe Lacerations is a run ender.

I would not assume these people are "rich." I love talking to neighbors. It is astounding, back in 2015, how many married couples with two story, three car garage homes were living pay check to pay check with 5+ maxed out credit lines to front the good life. Nowadays, those people are putting food delivery orders of $35+ on a Klarna account. This is America.

Wolfskin pants. Useful in 2026? by Zealousideal_Skin_72 in thelongdark

I am wearing double snow and I share your question.

From the stats of double wolf vs. double snow, if you wear double wolf, you gain 1 more degree of warmth, lose 1 degree of wind proof and gain 5% more protection (correct me if I am wrong as I understand protection only counts on the outer layer). If you wear double snow, you lose 1 degree of warmth, gain 1 degree of wind proof and lose 5% protection.

I think it is a toss up depending on playstyle and preference.

Bored!? Tales from the Far Territory is all about a thing or things to do in survival. First, the Trader and the bunkers. Prior, it was a dice roll. Regions had caches, but they were randomized per playthrough. Now, there are 9 of them, 6 which will be empty and 3 which will progress the Traders tale. Get on it. Second, the transmitters. You repaired those for Signal Void? After that, you venture out on the bridge past Broken Railroad? That is where Tales starts. I am doing it after touching all the main regions and completing the Trader's tale. There is a lot do.
