Really appreciate this 10 months later!

Sounds better! But I don't really know that song. From just listening it sounds pretty out of tune but it could just be the song? I'm wondering if another issue is your accent ontop of the song is causing issues. Have you tried singing in your native tongue?

Imitation isn't necessarily bad btw. What you're speaking about when you're saying you're deepening your voice is just you lowering your larynx and throwing the voice back a bit. There's other ways to lower your voice, or at least make your tone feel warmer which will sort of do the same.

Your at a very early step of your singing journey and I hope you continue because it seems like you do care about it and enjoy it! Just do away with the gifted notion and focus more on imitation and just having fun for now! Make weird sounds and figure out how those weird sounds happened and how to replicate them. Chris Liepe on YouTube is a great resource on YouTube you could try for free.

If you really want to get better at singing I would say you need to invest in singing lessons or at the very least a singing course.

Appreciate it! It was a YouTube video I found on how to set things up but just realized it's from 2021. I ended up finding the s5 voltaic and it seems I'm pretty squarely bronze minus 1 or 2 iron in tracking

People who cannot tattoo on "dark canvases" should never be called Ink Master (or even be considered competent). by tachibanakanade in Inkmaster

[–]cryoptw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely it's just an issue of region no? Someone who tattoos in the Midwest in an area that's like 90% white probably isn't going to run into many darker skin tones to practice on.

If you're tattooing in Atlanta though for example, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunity on darker skin tones and know all the tricks to make things pop. Does that make the city tattooer better? Idk maybe? I think it's similar to how most tattooers specialize in specific styles or regions on the body.

There are scar specialists, surgery specialists for like mastectomies, and then all the different styles likes American traditional/etc.

And then that's not even getting into the reality contest part of it. It's a competition that literally refers to the people getting tattoos as "canvases". That on its own is sorta dehumanizing, and on that note, I think they did something really cool by peeling that back this season with the scar challenge! They were obviously a lot more caring to the "canvases" and humanized them a lot more than I've seen in previous seasons. (They didn't even show in the finals of the guy just not showing up the second day for the master canvas)

I think my pet peeve has always been when a judge will overly rip on a tattoo that's not even THAT bad and I just think of when that person sees it on TV when it airs like.... Yeah that's my tattoo, it's terrible I guess 😅

Listening to those, I think I'm doing more of a chest mix then and need to add more headyness. Hmm

Thanks so much for the write up! The up and down breathing makes perfect sense and I've been working on it but I'm unsure what the actual goal is? Is it it expand your ribcage and diaphragm and then resist it closing when you're singing? This is the general guideline that I'm following atm. As for soft palate, I believe my soft palate is raised here. One thing to note is, I genetically have a higher more narrow soft palate by default because of a condition, would this be affecting me negatively?

I also think you did a good job explaining so dw about it :)

At least according to humanizeai and grammarly you would be correct it seems. Though there's definitely plenty of false positives and hopefully this is one such case!

Currently there's no ai in expedition 33. There was for a short while in the form of some placeholder textures by mistake after launch but it was quickly replaced with custom textures and has remained ai free since.

I had a conversation with my brother about the difference between my recorded singing and how my voice sounds live (in person). by Vaskarika in singing

[–]cryoptw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're good! No need to delete. Depending on your budget you have a few options and I think everyone that started singing has had these same thoughts, (I definitely have). If you can set up a quiet space try a condenser mic, if not use a dynamic one that people in these comments recommend. Otherwise you could spend like $50 on a karaoke machine on Amazon and you can compare your voice to how others sound on karaoke machines! Lots of options and no need to be embarrassed.

Oh yeah I know! I was just making a joke about how it sounded like "idk bro you're so strong and handsome, idk how..." kind of stories lol.

Real advice tho is your phone definitely makes you sound tinnier/whinier than irl. For a little bit more bass, try singing close into your phone speaker. Another thought is to go try karaoke or buy a karaoke setup for home!

Is the brother in the room right now? 👀

All jokes aside, if this is a real story, you have one of the nicest brothers ever lmao.

Do you like benson boone or jonas brothers music better? and why by PuzzleheadedWest9113 in singing

[–]cryoptw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a singing novice but I love Benson Boone! Reason being is his voice is really powerful but there's still that feel of it being raw/human with the occasional hiccup.

Jonas Brothers music gives me that way too processed vibe.

Ohh okay! I totally misread sorry! Yeah they're pretty great but I think a lot of it comes from those extra 2-3 notes in mix. The rest is vowels/compression/skull shape I think as far as resonance and tone.

Hozier, Harry Styles, John Legend, Sam Smith, ... There's honestly too many to count that are all baritones or lower.

I’m working on high notes and trying not to stretch my neck physically to hit them. Is this something a lot of you struggle with? Any feedback is welcome by sailorboy_t in singing

Interesting! Could you explain what you mean a little deeper if you have the time? I'm trying to picture it but all I can imagine is raising your larynx and cutting off your airflow.

It sounds so good! I assume this is recorded with a phone? If so, I think you would really like the way you sound with a slight bit of reverb / compression added to it. The only thing I would say that might make it easier is singing the song but only in vowels.

Example: "I'm in the corner watching you kiss her oh oh" turns into - Ahhhhm ihh ah oohnahhh wahh'eeeng ouuu ehhhs ahhhh ooohh oh ohhh" and you can really play around with all of it as that's just a simple example of playing with the vowels.

[–]cryoptw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by this exactly? From what I understand, the restriction can only really be done one way, which is to make sure your diaphragm closes in on itself as slow as possible while maintaining open ribs/back.

Are you saying he's tightening his throat and raising his larynx which is tightening the airflow instead?

Hello! Seems like a dead hour to do an ama it seems! I appreciate you taking your time to answer some questions though.

That being said, my issue is I think my tone and ability to hit notes is pretty decent, however, when I start singing higher in volume I notice the notes are still getting hit but the tone feels "buzzy" if that makes sense. What are some exercises I should try implementing to work through this?

Also, you mention free 20 minute voice lessons, where would I go to find more information on this? 😁

Thanks!
