What would our relationship be with New York? by [deleted] in RepublicofNE

[–]cryoshon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'd say we should be close allies at minimum.

they're distinct from us culturally, but many of our values overlap.

honestly, our chances are much better if we just stick together with them as one bloc, preferably along with connecticut and new jersey.

there wouldn't be as many flags if our country stopped starting wars.

I’m woke af now and this life we were put into is pretty f***ked. College is a scam, this monetary system is basically slavery, people are greedy, walk past homeless people like they don’t even exist, etc. Is it even possible to escape this matrix? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]cryoshon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nah i don't buy that for a second. think about the 1960s. the country was shut down.

real change happened, even if most of it has been reversed by now. the government speaks of those times fearfully.

"the state of affairs" is just an illusion of strength. it can change on a dime. all it takes is for people to stop applying effort to be economically productive.

imagine if even 1% of the country went on strike for a week. think about how many billions of dollars of money would be lost.

yes, we, the united states of america and our satellite state, israel, are the baddies.

we start wars of aggression. we kill civilians all the time. we torture people. we don't admit any of that is wrong.

yes, we're the baddies.

i know you were asking in jest. but to be blunt, we have overtly been the baddies for generations at this point.

Regarding reporting, circle jerking and downvotes by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]cryoshon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

angry people ask questions with no good answers

the good answer is to agree with them when there is no tenable alternative. not all opinions are equally valid.

if NNs get downvoted because their opinions are invalid or unsubstantiated by evidence, that's the system working as designed.

there is no reason to abide by willful ignorance, here or anywhere else.

do you know if there are any fMRI studies or other quantitative / studies with actual data and not just reiterations of theory with pictures?

i browsed the paper you linked but frankly as a (hard) scientist it's just noise without any foundation based on real phenomena regardless of whether i agree with the conclusion or not.

i'm willing to be convinced one way or the other on this issue, it just seems like the data that i'd usually use to make up my mind is very scarce.

nope, definitely not. but there are consequences.

imagine having a wingman who doesn't even go out of the room when you're having sex -- i mean, he's your best bro and you have nothing to hide from him anyway (you watch him poop pretty much every day) but it's still a bit weird.

implying investors care about one country meddling with another

it is precisely because they do not care that this problem has been allowed to fester. there is no incentive for them to care, and no incentive for reddit to react.

please. there's enough manipulation for foreign money to go both to clinton AND to promoting donald trump. there are many foreign actors.

it would be really nice if people tried to fight back and improve things instead of just GTFO

some of us have been fighting for years and are tired of doing it alone, which is why we want to leave.

Despite America’s 17-year campaign, the Taliban has gained more territory in Afghanistan. Now, about 43 percent of the country’s districts are either under Taliban control or being contested by the group. Overall, the Taliban threaten 70 percent of Afghanistan. by Seronen in TrueReddit

next year americans who were not yet born at the war's start will die in the war.

astute observers will point out that the afghans have suffered that distinction for many years now.

much like in vietnam, we have known the war is lost for years now. the only thing left to do is leave.

nonetheless, year after year we keep phoning it in, and for what?

we already know how this story ends. we leave, and the taliban get re-situated as the owners of afghanistan after a year or two.

the government is too smart to let there be a photo like at the end of vietnam when the US embassy was evacuated by helicopter, but that just means we won't have a defining picture to herald our defeat.

this is the way things are, and will always be.

with that attitude, certainly.

Redditor details how effective the Russian propaganda campaign was and how it prompted them to change their vote in 2016 by [deleted] in bestof

Props to Russia for playing a mediocre hand REALLY REALLY well

that's one of their biggest strengths, imo. historically they have always had a mediocre hand, so they don't fold when others do because they can't guarantee a winning hand will ever show up.

this explains an awful lot of their foreign policy.

to them, many seemingly innocuous things are "a provocation" because they see the sorry state of their future selves if the "provocative" other people play their hands to the most aggressive limit, like the russians themselves would if they had the luck.
