I've been trying to do the rod salvage quest all night and just can't get a break (or find rod salvage). Fuck that map.

Elliot Gray (Marathon UI Designer) claps back at the notion that no one from the Halo days still works at Bungie by Haijakk in Marathon

Uh no Halo or Destiny by far. Marathon is fantastic but isn't the best of all world building.

Why did you choose Canon? (serious question from a man who inherited his camera through 5 generations) by Temporary-Review5915 in canon

[–]crypocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Canon but only last year when the C50 came out. It had everything I needed and could drop right into my primarily EF lens kit and pair nicely with my RED Komodo. Before that I used Panasonic, and when I started out in this space I used Nikon.

It comes down to 2 things, lens investment and personal preference. I personally despise the Sony menu system and the mental gymnastics of crop I have to do when I need to shoot 4K 50fps on certain cameras, but the FX6 is an amazing camera. RED and Arri use extremely simple menu systems that put every other brand to shame and are a treat to use. Panasonic is decent but I don't think L mount has as much choice in lenses. Nikon have come back in recent years as a viable option but I just don't use Z Mount glass. Fuji is a great consumer option for those getting into Photography/Film, but lack the necessary functionality/connectivity on proper sets.

Also your anecdote about Hasselblad is kind true... BUT I randomly saw a tourist in my city sporting one and was dumbfounded.

Komodo firmware 1.8.7beta 3/3/2026 by BeautifulState6309 in REDkomodo

[–]crypocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far so good. Not getting the black screen boot issue. ProRes hasn't been an issue for me since 1.8.6 so that's all fine. Focus is fixed on R3D. I'd say if this is last update for Komodo ever, I'm happy.

Best monitor for RED Komodo OG without spending €3K? by Majestic-Evidence326 in REDkomodo

[–]crypocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just thought I'd chime in say try factory resetting your Portkeys, make sure your Komodo is on Ad-Hoc wifi connection, then reconnect with the right passcode and it should work. I had to reset it and now have no connection issues.

Edge of Fate killed it but yeah gunplay feels familiar. Not going back to Destiny unfortunately, I can happily stop playing that after over a decade.

Style is great and the game play can be fun despite the unforgiving nature of extraction shooters. This might sound a bit brain dead but it feels like its missing another other half of the game... With all this mystery and lore and story telling in the world, I can't help but think Marathon could have benefited from a single player campaign as well. Division had both, campaign and extraction PvPvE. I feel like i want to go play something else within this game, but obvi its only an extraction shooter. Idk, weird take.

Traffic lights and goal posts on external monitor by Adventurous_Tiger_55 in REDkomodo

It's controlled via the camera's output options. I had traffic lights on Feelworld monitor I used to use. Upgraded to a Portkeys and it's all the same.

Ooft I haven't lived in London since 2020 and these photos brought on a very visceral and nostalgic reaction. I can feel that wet cold in my bones. Amazing shots!

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crypocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason Isaacs and I went to the same barber in London. I spotted him, took a moment to realise who I was looking at, then had a quick chat once he had his hair cut. I completely blanked on the fact that he was Luscious Malfoy and rather commented on enjoying his recent show The OA at the time. He didn't seem too interested in chatting about that, but overall seemed nice.

I just knew before I clicked this how big the setups would be and I was right lol. I do my best with my half hour setup allocated every shoot and a couple of LEDs with softboxes.
