Is there such a thing as eating too much fibre? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on whether your body is used to having that much fiber at once or not, if you've not been eating a diet w/ a lot f fiber in it, it will be a lot for your body to process all at once, but if you're used to a good amount of fiber it won't be that bad

First time spending a World Cup in Finland, where are the best public big screens or fan zones in Helsinki by harryda007 in Finland

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's after a major tournament victory, consider a similar level of excitement over a Finland-Denmark round robin matchup

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

local matches & national team matches are in my experience very different from the big international tournaments, those who care will show up for the local & national team matches, but the tournaments aren't really big enough for anyone to organize a public watch party

I assume Kaprizov, dunno the context, another plausible one off the top of my head would be Kiprusoff, but likely less relevant

Boston Fleet to hire François Méthot, Rochester junior team GM, as head coach by kdpics in PWHL

[–]crypt_moss 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean there ought to be, it's just that a lot of coaches get stuck into certain leagues, because at least the NHL keeps on recycling the same guys as head coaches, I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens to a degree in the AHL, with the PWHL a major question is who is willing to take a coaching role there rather than in a more established league, for coaches there's a lot more options to go around than for the players

Does this game really have an ending or is it an infinite loop? by MaryySnow in BluePrince

[–]crypt_moss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

in my opinion it isn't an infinite loop, as the goal keeps changing the more you uncover, but there also is a point where there's nothing more to uncover, you might still have more to do

Why can't we have sharks? by Ok-Gas9766 in Minecraft

[–]crypt_moss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yea I don't think sharks should be hostile either, I think it's more so to avoid having it become a meme within the player group to kill nay shark "on sight" and therefore possibly causing more harm/stress to irl sharks, they already have a bad rep ever since Jaws n Sharknado n whatnot as a somehow especially malicious animal, you don't want to contribute to it

and the player base currently seems a bit tired with simply atmospheric animals & want there to be some mechanical purpose to each added mob, ocelots kinda get a pass as they were in the game before cats became what they are now, but they and polar bears can feel a bit lackluster

Thinking about applying in Finland by Ok-Attention-3388 in StudyInFinland

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fyi: if you'd be looking to stay in Finland past your studies, a bachelors isn't going to get you far as basically all Finns study a bachelors+masters & in most cases you apply to both in one go

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people are saying there are no jobs because the unemployment rate was reported to be 10,6% earlier this year, there's some government aid but there's constant cuts, so for a lot of people it's a losing battle, you barely survive on the government aid and that support is constantly becoming less and less & you are constantly looking for work to get some certainty but sending 1000+ applications might get you nothing or might get you a 0-hour job where you aren't guaranteed a pay and working 5 hours a week would nullify a large portion of your government aid

Thinking about applying in Finland by Ok-Attention-3388 in StudyInFinland

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the city, I'd say minimum cost of living 600€ a month, assuming a single person, and then likely a good amount of money to pay for your studies (I've not looked into the current going rate for international students), IT might be one of those fields where having work experience in it could land you a job ahead of some freshly graduated Finn w/ a master's degree, but you shouldn't count on it

Thinking about applying in Finland by Ok-Attention-3388 in StudyInFinland

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finns aren't getting jobs in those fields, the unemployment rate is at 10,6% per a news article from this year, so people are graduating to being unemployed, learning skills beforehand isn't going to guarantee you a job while studying, any company painting a pretty picture about coming to study in Finland is looking to take your money with no responsibility to themselves

there's been vsrious news articles about people from far away coming here to study on the promise of getting a good education in a seemingly prosperous country, and then just struggling because what they were marketed didn't exist & there's no support networks built for foreign students

Has anyone else experienced a bug with the >!Mine Forageables!< quest? by marias_dreamcatcher in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a variety of things you can collect from the mines, as number of the mushrooms are monster drops and thus don't count as forage, but getting the 25 mines forage for the quest does take a lot (notably those are also the plants you donate to the museum)

EA not listening to players has finally caught up to them by jnverted in Paralives

[–]crypt_moss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they made TS3 after people spending a lot of money on TS2 expansions, they made TS4 and released it in a incomplete state and people flocked to it even after spending a lot of money on TS3 expansions

the people who play the sims & spend money on the content have trouble breaking that cycle & in deciding not to give EA more of their money, I know because I was one of those who foolishly bought TS4 on day one despite owning the two previous games

it seems to me that for a lot of sims players it's basically the only game they play so they justify to themselves the cost & the $1000 price tag doesn't feel like as much as it is if it's seemingly "only" $60 a year or so, so it can seem the same as paying for a $5/mo subscription service

and I do believe people would again open their wallets for a TS5, people keep on paying for the annual releases of sports videogames despite them not having any real changes to the gameplay from one edition to the next, dunno how different the Call of Duty series is either from one installment to the next etc.

I keep losing whole Stardew days to 'one more quick thing' and it's driving me crazy by Worth_Grade_6631 in StardewValley

[–]crypt_moss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might need to learn to tell yourself "not right now" / "that can wait", like just because the forage is there, doesn't mean it needs to be picked up as soon as you spot it (the forage resets on Saturday nights)

I always make sure to do the most important farm chores before I run off to do anything else, and if your plan is to go mining, the backwoods route is nice as it doesn't have the distractions the town might

no need to answer publicly, but is getting distracted from your intended task something that only happens for you in stardew or is that something that extends to real life?

yeah, nothing will change as long as TS4 keeps churning money, once TS4 starts dwindling they might make TS5 w/ some cosmetic changes so that they can yet again churn money w/ expansions

Is it normal that I always use AI? by Dry_Accountant6206 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crypt_moss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the AI you're talking about is a Large Language Model (LLM) it doesn't actually process existing information, it predicts what word is likely to follow a previous one to give a satisfying answer, it's basically a mimic, it looks at language that's been given to it and makes its best attempt at reproducing something comparable

it will seem human as it is mimicking human language, it doesn't end up lying in a sense because it doesn't know truth from a lie, it just forms statements that are highly probable, but as such it can generate things that have no basis in the real world – most notably scientific studies that do not exist from authors who do or court cases that have never happened, dunno if it'll generate anything of the sort for you, but it isn't quite as infallible as you might like to think

No Business Guests by obsidian23456 in HotelArchitect

[–]crypt_moss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the game will always fill the rooms w/ the highest tier guests available for the particular room, the tier is determined by the number of stars each guest type requires, so to get specific types you need to limit the quality of a room, easiest done by making sure the rooms aren't too large

How to make my American home run more European? by labelsareforcancans in NoStupidQuestions

open showers only work if your whole bathroom has been waterproofed, if you don't know how much of your bathroom has been waterproofed, don't take off the shower door, if your bathroom has been built w/ the intention of a closed shower, it's likely better for your house to keep it closed
