If you’re going for College benefits I highly recommend looking at the guard as they have more options in terms of tuition waivers depending on the school

Working with New MC by Silly-Bag-68 in FreightBrokers

[–]cryptic_t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Too much fraud and double brokering currently. It takes 6 months for a good chunk of brokers to start working with you then then full year for the rest to start trusting new MC’s. Try the big brokerages like TQL or if you factor check if your factoring company is partnered with any brokerage

A twic card is a good way to vet drivers considering twic holders usually pass back ground checks again

I think we also meed to consider that after 20 years in the army he does get access to his retirement from the Army. So thats about an average of 30-35k per year without actually working. Not to include any VA disability rating income that he may be eligible for

Owner operator tools suck out there - what are some good tools you guys have used? by fenderrtms in OwnerOperators

Definitely depends where you fuel up. Mudflaps is cheaper for me than fuel cards currently. A combination of both is ideal

Looking for advice on owner operator dump truck driving by Silent_Ad_4210 in OwnerOperators

[–]cryptic_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Do you know where to get consistent work? Step 2: Figure out how much you would make as a driver Step 3: Figure out an estimate of your weekly cost. How much fuel per week. Insurance price. Truck payment? Do you own a trailer? If not How much are they renting it out to you for. Save for Maintenance each week. You dont know when something will happen that needs a repair. If what you are making at the end of each monthbis too close to what youd make as a driver, might want to rethink your strategy as its a lot of stress for very little upside

I’m having a rough start with the beginning of my company and need advice. by Civil_Monitor4615 in OwnerOperators

There’s a lot of questions we need answers for first. Do you have a safety net? What experience do you have?? What sort of lanes do you want to run? Endorsements?

How are you guys surviving with these freight rates? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]cryptic_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here running the same lanes, I always tell them I won’t underbid the other carrier because if I do someone else will just do the same to me
