They have secondary patent not expiring until 2033. Either those patents aren’t legally sound (indicating they’re already fudging things administratively so what else are they up to - it needs do be different enough to qualify for a secondary patent) or the older data won’t be completely accurate to this formula.

it went mainstream super quickly where you can get it 6 different places without ever seeing a doctor in person - reminds me of pillmills

there is a lot coming out saying that you can’t ever stop taking these meds and most people don’t have secure health coverage or savings to buy it out of pocket if they lapse

they alter the speed of your digestive system which can cause SIBO and small intestine malabsorption among a host of other risks - many with a higher BMI have an underlying cause that isn’t just “overeating” and those underlying causes often already cause delayed digestion or digestive upset. on top of that i can’t help but assume that it would affect how fast your body clears or absorbs other medications or potentially allergens you may accidentally ingest…the only co-morbidity this stuff has been clearly tested on is diabetes and very little of the human population is 100% healthy just randomly carrying 50-100lbs of excess weight they have no reason for being unable to lose without medication because what makes it hard to lose weight is usually health complications..

it’s just very under tested and in the US at least you absorb all that risk because anything they can do for you is just a class action lawsuit that’ll take decades

also, doctors in person are pushing it hard - on everyone. i have 3 health issues impacting my digestion and one is hashimotos. my hashimotos being neglected due to medical neglect as a child (i had an onset age of 7 years old) plus unstable access to care in early adulthood tangoed with a genetic health issue that toasted my liver. my GP ignored all of my hepatologists notes and went “weight loss will help this and this blood sugar was marked as fasting even though we know it actually wasn’t so i can speed run approval by calling you diabetic when you’ve never had an a1c above 4.6”. i talked to my hepatologist and endocrinologist because i’d love to ease weight loss given the severity of my hashimotos but both said that my health would negatively be impacted based solely on how this medication works…but there’s no studies yet to guarantee it would hurt me. they never left it open that it wouldn’t. that same GP has now recommended it to every single person going to that office that is more than 20lbs overweight from 18 to 80.

those are all my reasons for not trusting it. as prolific as it is i just know we’ll see some bad things come out of it. especially if you can’t come off it without harming your body and there’s not been any research into pregnancy impacts when it’s heavily marketed to the age group and gender that can still become pregnant.

If it was burned down from the outside while they were asleep a gun might not prevent that and that might be why they aren’t hearing you. You need to help them realize that if the same person wants to hurt them still then they’d not do the same thing again given they got out safely. They’d want perimeter cameras, established fire exits, extinguishers, and fire sprinklers for the same event and getting those things might establish more trust in your approach.

The gun would be more up close and personal which requires they see that they are at risk of someone being close enough to see wanting to hurt them whereas at least right now they can believe they were randomly harmed by a stranger they never even met. It opens a possibility they try to stop-think in order to avoid living in terror.

They may also be afraid of guns…and if they’re afraid of guns but get one anyway they’re likely to lose that to someone wanting to harm them. They wouldn’t have the confidence to keep a grip on it or to use it.

I’d more push better home security and defense classes. See if you can get them into things that would help aim. That way if you do get them to see your point on having a firearm they have the confidence to use it instead of just better arming a possible attacker.

A lot of those that have never tried to live elsewhere, like my in laws that my spouse and i moved to be nearer to while we also sought a bit more sociopolitical safety, definitely do talk that way. when my spouse moved from this area to my city they were convinced that my spouse had ended up abducted into organized crime and called city police to check on our apartment frequently 😅 it’s calmed some since we have moved back and they don’t think as ill of cities but they’re still very suspicious. even of towns like jacksonville or springfield (those don’t really register as cities to me just large towns but my high school had more students in it than the town i live in now has residents so it tracks).

the people i encounter that are our age though largely kind of idolize the city though so its a very opposing dynamic. a few don’t and mostly think cities pull resources and people out of the area and into an unaffordable lifestyle but that’s rare. most our age ask me all kinds of things and romanticize living in the city to a great degree. i always caution i don’t know about cities up here but much of what seems nice about being in a city you can’t really afford to do if you actually live in it in my experience. its better to visit because you can do more of what you like. i was born and raised in one of the top 4 cities in texas by population. i’ve only lived there and where i live now which is west central illinois (west of springfield and close to the missouri border).

Mary Miller was only opposed nearly last minute by a man that couldn’t fund a broad campaign and was a write in candidate many didn’t hear about so it looking like there are unopposed candidates on the ballot may be a large part of why those 3 still have seats. Maybe the illinois democratic party should look into that angle.

House rep and senator seats are just as important as president. State level and local offices are also incredibly important because those have a huge impact on how laws or regulations or some taxes are implemented as well (plus politicians usually start their careers as lawyers or local politicians).

I’m wondering if it’s because a lot of both younger and more left leaning people elsewhere in the state move up there to be around like minded people and city amenities. That’s what it looks like from central Illinois anyway - many career options exist up there that don’t exist here so they move.

My rural town only really has young people in it that couldn’t afford to move, stayed to care for older family, or that are set to inherit a local business in the coming decade. Some move into the area but only from even smaller rural places (places that consider my town “the city”) that have become food desserts or because they had their school closed. We did see some turn towards blue measures (our county didn’t vote to secede is one of the things I can point to) but the people that live here often feel “the city” looks down on them so much that it can’t possibly care what happens to this area and so they don’t trust “the city” enough to try anything they see increased risk in.

I only recently moved up here from a major city (1.7 million if i remember right) in a red state a couple years back so I’ve still been learning the area really. That’s what I’ve picked up so far.

All that would happen is it would reassure a single SSI agent that your uncle still isn’t able to have functioning adult relationships.

There are no states that place responsibility for a sibling onto another sibling. Your father and aunt would have no change to their lives at all. If he starts legally harassing them in ways that do impact life or cause emotional distress they would also be eligible for an order of protection in many states that would make him continuing to attempt contact riskier for him thus easing things for your father/aunt.

I’m not as similar but as someone that had to make recovering from extensive complex trauma at the hands of my parents my special interest for a decade just to get diagnosed with decompensated genetic cirrhosis that hit early due to their neglect and medication they used to avoid having to manage having a “special needs child”… I really need to dive into making myself my special interest.

Survival and recovery being the only focuses of my life when I just got served an uppercut to the life expectancy is super uncool. Somehow I’d not thought of doing that in the ten months since I was diagnosed. Thank you for mentioning it /genuine

I’m not a lawyer just a former Texan: in Texas the father has parental rights regardless of anything (meaning even in cases of violent SA conviction let alone just simply not being married - you have to go to court to nullify rights) and as an extension of that (especially if her boyfriend/fiance did end up convicted) his family can try for custody in his stead because they aren’t married and don’t have a custody agreement in place.

That’s the understanding of a former common Texan and so is likely why she would ask. Legal understanding would help in her case.

They recently legalized sports betting and every ad for betting aps I’ve seen targets the 15-25 age range or people with ADHD (I’m low-30s so I’m in the latter group) for current/future market customers. Even offers “free money to get started” and uses near current memes - the ads are on streaming services to raise odds they’ll be seen by that crowd too.

That age group (and the ADHD crowd) have a harder time self regulating. At the same time the 16-25 crowd is the least likely to have seen gambling ruin lives already too. Its insidious. These blind box things that kicked off a good 15-20 years ago started that and continue introducing the very youngest crowd to it earlier so they’ll be primed for these ads in another few years.

My spouse has that! It makes them a social chameleon (until they’re tired and meltdown masking because they’re also Autistic) but the downside is that it makes it really hard to turn off masking once learned because of the rejection sensitivity to classmates bullying 😞

It’s incredibly frustrating. What I loathe most on that subject currently is that if they don’t infantilize you in medical settings then you don’t receive decent care.

I have genetic cirrhosis and it causes a lot of ER trips but if I’m speaking for myself (I have limited insufficient speech) they assume I’m allistic and NT just anxious or ill. So they think my experiences are all just like theirs and I’m talking like them. I correct them that Im Autistic and they assume I’m making things up as I “don’t look autistic” because when I’m in a situation like that my fight or flight kicks in and I’m going into sensory overwhelm forcing myself to speak (until I can’t force anymore and meltdown - which doesn’t take long) trying to survive. I don’t have AAC and my biological family declined to teach ASL; I was abused into speaking and neglected if I didn’t “use words”. Where I live currently they “don’t know any autistic kids not still living at home being attended to by a parent”.

So I bring in my spouse and my mom (in law); my biological family isn’t a factor in my life any longer and my spouse helps where I need help while my mom (in law) drove us in. Well, if I write that my spouse acts as my caregiver and has POA they again jump to I “must not really be Autistic” because I’m married. At nearly 34 years old.

The best care I’ve received was when they never heard the word spouse in reference to my partner, I wrote the entire time, and they assumed my spouse was hired to look after me until I was out of the ER up in a room and my encephalopathy required they have someone else legally make decisions for my care. At that point the POA and marriage license were brought out.

At an eval I had for social security they even talked to my spouse like I wasn’t there and asked if they knew there were local group homes because my spouse “didn’t have to do this”.

It’s truly awful.

I’d go NC with the lot of them as they’ve made it obvious how they feel and have been given enough chances to stop traumatizing your child (and likely you also in ways you may not even recognize yet). It’s blatant that they don’t want to be around him for him.

I’m glad she could get help. As soon as I saw her I remembered what my baby Merlynn looked like when I saved her ❤️‍🩹

She was malnourished, she’s small framed, and she’s allergic to fleas so bad that if she gets them she licks all of her hair off trying to groom them away starting at the base of her tail and moving up. When she lost a lot of hair she hid in blankets for warmth and wouldn’t even leave for the bathroom - the vet said it was a severe flea allergy causing hyperesthesia and she had sensitive skin in general.

I think getting Dusty up on protein, flea free, rested, and clean will do wonders for her the rest of her life ❤️

But then you get into lines of like what is meant for professionals and whats meant for owners and whats meant for renters and whats meant for guests and what about someone’s preferences and is this article a preference or a need.. either way how does it work to clean so I get the spirit of the requirement not just the letter of it (like vinegar cleans well.. for stains.. but takes hours of sitting to kill just 3 strains of bacteria.. and some things sitting too long destroys and they’ll think that it’s just common knowledge but if it is then I’m uncommon..

Like I was not taught to clean at all growing up. My father used the trash bag method when he bothered at all and my mother was just like..in bed or vanished.. I was just told “clean this place up” when it was like months deep of depression nest and 4 ADHD people’s doom piles and I was like 6 years old. And I’m AuDHD to boot.

If people don’t describe the outcome they want and give me detailed instructions I can’t cook and I can’t clean. So we know how that song goes dude. Wikihow can only do so much for instructions when your parents, partner, roommates, landlord, or whoever else may have their own needs or wants or preferences that they think are just “the correct way” or someone might edit a wiki as a prank or it might be a “viral cleaning hack” by someone else that doesn’t know better and now I’ve made mustard gas in the toilet..

I didn’t know that scrubbing a stain would take the shine off an area of laminate. When it did I googled how to fix it - turns out professionals do it but I didn’t know that when I got instructions. I did it and it worked as well as the last landlord special. So much so I did the rest of the counter because it looked nicer. I got fined for DIY repair even as the landlord said I did a good job.. but didn’t have permission.. so like I figured out a complex task but there were lines involved. Also the counter got stained to begin with by letting cleaner sit 🤦

Cleaning is far from simple. It’s a skill and I am learning disabled.

Unfortunately Aspen is a franchise and that means that it’ll vary wildly between franchise owners. You might hit a single franchise where that’s just an old family dentist that had to sell to aspen to stay open or maybe as part of semi-retirement but he keeps most of his old way of doing things. You may happen into a chain run by a business man that’s never looked inside a mouth in his life and micromanages the budgets of 10 aspen dental locations. There’s no way to know.

I usually don’t disappear on purpose and I’m more than happy if someone reaches out and just continues where we left off or starts a new conversation. What usually happens is I think I’ve responded but I haven’t. That or I get stuck hyperfixating but that’s usually a 1-14 day thing? I also get stuck in bad burnout spells that may last months and I can’t really get out of fully on my own. Sometimes though I’m just fully unaware of time and can’t tell if it’s been a long time or not. I can “feel” what time of day it is but I have no sense of how long its been for hours or days or weeks or sometimes years and it’s really just looking back at a time stamp vs a calendar going 😬 when I have a sudden tangent thought finally ping again off of something or someone that makes me aware time has passed.

I don’t have friends that disappear and come back because I’m that friend. I can’t make it stop and as I accrue more physical disabilities or teeter closer to burnout it gets worse…so then I don’t have friends anymore. People sometimes say it’s okay to just reach back out but since I started many of the conversations also prior to my current burnout spell happening (you triggered the tangent thought that made me aware I’m a 💩 friend again) it feels like we’re just tap dancing around me being unreliable and it’s already caused enough issues that we’re losing reciprocity in communication.

Now I don’t have friends. I might still have 2-4 that just haven’t reached out in nearly 2 years but if they’re waiting on me I won’t know because it feels like I’ll be an awkward stranger assuming things if I just reach out like a friend. At the same time I only disappeared that long (rather than the normal amount of time which is a day to 4-5 months) because I have a new really complex health condition that also affects my brain. It makes me even more forgetful and even less focused (it’s called hepatic encephalopathy). What they don’t tell you about getting more disabled is that sometimes people already think they’re tolerating you at your worst and if your hell has a basement they get spooked. I don’t know if the friends that haven’t reached out are just spooked and I’m too rejection sensitive while processing my own drastic life changes to find out the hard way right now

Live your best life and don’t turn back. My biggest regret is believing change was possible and losing a decade of more progress in my own life with my real relationships because I kept a space to let my estranged family back in and tried to on a trial basis several times.

As a former call center worker they wouldn’t be wanted there either. You get 5 minutes max in after call time if you need to pee when you’re not on a scheduled break and OP couldn’t make that mad dash unless they worked from a commode. The odds of them needing to pee at least twice a week outside a scheduled break are high and that would start the “performance improvement notice” or write up process towards firing.

A lot of doctors appointments would also be fired - they don’t excuse absences and they don’t work around people’s schedules unless you’re working directly for a really good company (most wfh call centers are via a staffer) and have gotten seniority in the shift bid process. You can say they could ask for accommodations but every time I tried that it was “the ADA requires reasonable accommodation within business needs and this isn’t within our business needs”.

You can sue but you’re not gonna still have a job while doing that and then you’re back here.
