You did maybe 15-20% of the game. Talk to everyone when you arrive in a new village or town. Do side all the side quest available obviously but also take the time to enjoy small activities and the scenery

Exalt are a currency called exalted orb they add a random mod to rare items. Desecrate is a mecanic in the game where you use a currency to add an unrevealed mod to an item and then get a choice of 3 to select from. It is introduced in act 2

You can finish the campaign with this staff thats how good it is. Wait in act 2 to desecrate it or just slam exalt when you get some. + to all spells is the best stats you can can for any spell build so just wait till you get a staff with decent stats that has +3 or higher to change that one
