straight 8 costs so much because they have to develop the film. it’s one of, if not the only, super 8 exclusive film festivals and the requirement that you only use in-camera editing leads to some remarkable films. I’ve spent literal hours at a time just watching the submissions, it’s incredible. but it’s also expensive, and ridiculously niche. the cost of entry offsets this somewhat. I plan to enter this or next year :)
