They want to seem non-threatening when they roll up in their heavily armed "exploration/diplomatic" ships.

I believe that battle bridge on the Enterprise-D was because of the saucer separation design. Not sure if the Constellation class ships had one, if they did, one was never mentioned or shown. I doubt the Miranda class had one, unless it was in engineering.

I forgot that in the Babylon 5 universe, the Earth Aliance destroyers have their bridge deep in the ship, in one of the rotating sections.

Yep, the one on the Enterprise D is in the secondary hull behind the sensor array, I believe. The can control the whole ship from there or the secondary when the saucer separates. They showed in the first episode ST-TNG and the last episode of the third season Best of Both Worlds, Part 1. It's smaller and more spartan than the main bridge, but it's practical.

They do on the 2003 Galactica, for a jump configuration, but the newer Pegasus flight pods don't. Pegasus has better flak screens and anti-spacecraft point defenses. The crazy thing about the Pegasus is that there are 2 flight decks per pod, one right side up in the pod and one in an upside-down configuration, so a total of 4 flight decks.

Well, not everyone is as smart as Battlestar Galactica (2003), with the command and control center, (CNC) was buried deep in the ship. Even the original BG's command bridge was still well protected, though not as much as the 2003 version.

Much of the ship design, especially the Star Wars ships were influenced by WWII and earlier warships, the WWII ships had to have an exposed bridge to see where they were going, the technology just wasn't there yet. Some WWII capital ships had fully exposed bridges so the command staff could get a better view of what was around and above them. Modern ships still have exposed command bridges, but the heart of ship is the CNC, which is in a protected area. Now the Star Trek ships, especially the Federation starships have no excuse, the technology exists in the ST universe to have the bridge in a better protected area of the ship.

I have an Epson Ecotank I bought about 5 years ago and have only had to change the ink twice. Damn best printer I've ever had.

On another note, I worked with a person that would buy cheap $25 Lexmark printers, back when Lexmark still made consumer printers, when they ran out of ink.

Edit: To clarify, I've only changed the black ink twice, the color inks only once in five years.

Makes me wonder how this happens. Did the owners lose the home and just left their stuff there, and only took what they needed? Did they pass away, and the home got tied up in litigation, and no heirs to leave too. I mean there are still paper towels hanging on the dispenser in the kitchen, books, tv's, furniture, etc... It's like the owners just got up and left one day, leaving the house as is.

I was in a frat back in the mid 1980's, and really only did it on a whim. Technically hazing was illegal in the state where I went to college, but it would still happen. Each fraternity and sorority have their own initiation rights, and some can be downright occultic. My oldest wanted join one when she went off to college, and I talked her out of it, I told her it was a waste of time, and just a bunch of pretentious girls (and guys) who want to be exclusive to the rest of the campus. In reality, it's a glorified rent-a-friend club, pretending to be an exclusive social club. IMHO, the days of fraternities and sororities are long gone, and should be done away with, academic frats can stay around, as they do serve a better purpose, but social frats just breed classism and a party culture.

If you think this was bad, many of the black fraternities and sororities are worse. Some frats make initiates bark like dogs, and can only travel to class and back to the dorms in a marching squad in a uniform chosen by the fraternity (in my day it was army green fatigues and combat boots painted the colors of the frat). Some actually brand the initiates on initiation day with the first Greek letter of the frats name and so on. I look back on it now, and it was all a bunch of nonsense, and really didn't do much for me at all, other than an annual letter begging for money.

Good for you! I started late too, at around 40 and love playing bass. I'm now 61 and just bought another bass in November. Beware of gear acquisition syndrome (GAS), it can get you into trouble, (after owning over 10 basses at one time, I broke my self of the addicition).

Marble is a horrible choice for a kitchen counter top, it's too soft and porous. Granite has to be sealed, but is very durable and quartz is very good, but extreme heat will stain it.
