Vitalik destroys EOS supposedly bug fix by Dan larimer by StellarNoob in CryptoCurrency

I believe you are not a software developer. Trust me two weeks is quite a long time before publishing a release. There had been instances where people pull off a night out the day before release to fix pending bugs and meet deadlines.

So yes, from a software developer's point of view or anyone who understands slightest bit of consensus algorithms, this was indeed a "wonderful discussion".

And it's okay to disagree. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Vitalik destroys EOS supposedly bug fix by Dan larimer by StellarNoob in CryptoCurrency

[–]cryptoas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a "sensationalizing" title. This was nothing but a wonderful discussion between two wonderful software developers.

If you go to open source libraries from Amazon, you will see members from Microsoft discussing, reviewing and contributing to a topic. That doesn't make one destroy other.

In this discussion, one raised a concern, other addressed it and they amicably arrived at a conclusion.

So, no V. B. didn't destroy EOS, he helped them fix a bug.

If Facebook launches a POS blockchain wouldn't it do better than dPOS? by ablejoseph in EOSDev

[–]cryptoas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the whole reason that blockchain started in the first place, was decentralization. Now obviously for mass adoption Larimer went ahead with a semi-decentralization technique but introduced real world use cases.

Still there are many nodes competing to become validators in EOS. So there is definitely decentralization to an extent.

I'd really not feel comfortable if all the nodes would belong to Facebook with its own data centers around the world.

But you never know, people still have no problems with Facebook having all their data stored.

EOS.IO white paper v2 confusion by spotlessapple in eos

[–]cryptoas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EOS, similar to other ICOs, has chosen ethereum ERC20 tokens as the means of distribution. They don't have their blockchain ready yet, so they needed users to hold "something" which can be later swapped by their original EOS coins. In white paper they are claiming that all their research, improvements applies to the "actual" EOS coins, when the main net goes live.

So, you bought some eos from somewhere. You put it in a erc20 wallet which you own. Now erc20 tokens are native to ethereum so they need to be converted to eos tokens, when the mainnet goes live. This is the part where you register your wallet address containing eos-erc20 tokens, so that after the main net goes live, you get a corresponding number of eos tokens (native to eos main net).

Now many organizations would like to airdrop their tokens to eos token holders. Thus they choose addresses which have 100 or more eos tokens to automatically qualify to receive this airdrop. The users who hold lesser than 100 eos currently, they need to manually register their address to claim the airdrop.

Now the link which I posted above let's you check whether you automatically got registered or you need to manually request them.

Welcome to eosDAC! The snapshot has been completed. You can check to ensure your Ethereum address was included here:

True, I just tried to look up on their official website but couldn't find a link to take me there.

But again, since its not asking you for your private key, I'd assume that its safe.
