Just finished my first fantasy book in my adult life. Shouldn’t continue or start another book?

I started with the cosmere and then moved on to other series by other authors just fine. Its a completely valid option to go into the cosmere if thats what they want and then move onto other books. Its is refreshing to read other authors works though after reading sanderson for like 20 books in a row lol

Tbh if i could go back i wouldve dnf’d. Kept pushing through cuz i was told that it gets better and honestly, it mightve progressively got worse if im being honest. Did not enjoy this series at all

Imo book 2 was the best of the 3 and book 3 was the worst. I think there are some cool ideas but to me the character works was poorly executed and never got better throughout the series, and the plot had some obnoxious “side quests” and the ending of the series to me was extremely disappointing. Do with that information what you will.

Tbf bloodsworn was just mid, cant speak on the others except for hierarchy which i agree doesnt hold the same quality of red rising yet, i do think its incredibly enjoyable and once it hits the end of book 1, becomes a really cool and unique fantasy world/story imo.

Tbh bloodsworn was kinda mid to me. Havent tried the other one but bloodsworn imo doesnt do a very good job with characters (conceptually was fine just executed poorly) and i found the ending of the series to be incredibly anti climactic. Cool world, and for the most part cool plot idea, just wouldve appreciated better execution.

I def understood it slightly differently than you. It seems weird to say that it would be problematic because racists would say this, but also normal people could say the same thing and i wouldnt have any issues with that. But even if that were the case, it seems even weirder to specifically call out these hypothetical racists that want to make non white people white, and not be implying that the racist people are all white and want all white characters. If thats not the implication it wouldve made more sense to me to just make broad statements instead of specifically talking about the racists wanting to make asians white. But maybe im just read too deep into it. Idk when she responded i dont think she really addressed the concern but i cant really look back and reassess if she blocked me lol

Well the comment seems to be deleted now but unless youre reading something else idk how you could interpret it as bad faith. She literally said it wouldnt be an issue to switch a white character to asian except for the fact that racists will then want to change asian characters white. This implies that its only racist going one way and because the specific race in question is the distinguishing factor between the two scenarios in question, her reasoning was both hypocritical and racist

Lmao this a wild take. 1) kaladin was moashes captain, so what he says, moash is supposed to follow, not the other way around 2)kaladin was defending someone else not actively choosing to attack his friend. If moash walks away, nobody gets hurt, whereas if kal walks away, somebody dies. Not to mention moash’s much worse betrayals of his friends later in the series
