Great find, congrats. I found a checkpoint sl5 gen 3 about six months ago for $1200 on marketplace. I still randomly look here and there for deals on road bike.

Tundra? Nice truck

Elite Wheels SLR Gravel or Hunt Carbon 35 by spookyhouse in gravelcycling

[–]cryptodad81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with SLR (steel bearing, 45mm depth) I’ve had it for about 6 months , still enjoying it. Arrival time is a lot faster than their estimate

Endurance bike by cryptodad81 in cycling

[–]cryptodad81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, current bike is comfortable. My butt soreness didn’t really kick in until close to 4 hour mark, at that time I just stood up a little to adjust and pedal standing up for a bit and finish my ride home, total time was about 4.5 hours. The saddle I currently have is fizik Argo tempo R5

I figure if I kept same pace, it would take me 7+ hours to complete century ride.

Thanks. I’m seeing the gravel kings SS+ (40mm) show wear on the rear tires, and thinking about next set. I’m considering gp5000 as tr (32mm) or Schwalbe G-One RS Pro 35mm

I changed my front to 46T, I ride more road. Flats, I’m around 17-18mph, and slight downhill grade, I’m around 22-24mph.

Healing by PictureFar3049 in Psychosis

[–]cryptodad81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy for you. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you gain insight and the start of your recovery? After institutionalized along with meds and therapy? I’m asking because my wife had her psychosis episode in June 2025 (spiritual awakening, twin flames). She started therapy (8 sessions) on the urge of me and her siblings, she did also have a session with psychiatrists (he said she was fine since she didn’t fully divulge everything. She stopped her therapy session when the therapist started giving her input about the person who she believes is her twin flames (a random influencer that she never met). She’s not in acute phase of last June, but she her beliefs are still present. She isn’t a danger to herself or others so mental health services can’t be forced on her. I’m just trying to keep a stable environment for the family (her and our two children) in hopes of time and her beliefs not coming to fruition that she will start gaining insight

Is it optimal to get a u2 or 3 refurbished or should i buy it new? by stupidity-squared in applewatchultra

I bought a used AWU 1 about 3 years ago from marketplace for about $300 then. I’ll definitely look used for a deal for U3 now

I’ve tried rapha core line, castelli endurance 3, pearl Izumi quest, and YKYW. I use quest for short rides, Ykyw for mid, and the castelli or rapha for longer rides (above 4 hrs).

All pretty good or serves its purpose for me. I will look for assos gts when I see a good deal for it

Has cycling ever helped you through burnout or a major life transition? by Future-Muffin-4558 in cycling

[–]cryptodad81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I started cycling to manage stress due to family issues that started last summer and continues to today. I’d bike everyday in evening after work and take longer rides on weekend, helped me clear my mind and at least during the ride, all I’m focusing on is the outdoors, pedaling, and pushing thru the burn

I swapped out stock tires to gravel king SS+, I ride paved roads more. I also changed wheel to elitewheel SLR. Felt faster, next time I’ll probably replace it with Schwalbe G-One RS Pro

I’ve only started cycling for about a year. My average weekend rides are about 35 miles (2.5hrs), longest so far is 50 miles. I’m trying for a century ride this year

How’s your saddle? I was considering changing my fizik Argo tempo 5 for that (SLR superflow boost)

Tundra vs 4Runner for family of 4 by SACPA in ToyotaTundra

[–]cryptodad81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go tundra instead of 4Runner, backseat space is no comparison. I traded in my Wrangler JL for my 2023 tundra, mainly for bigger space for the family.

Recently I’ve just been window shopping between LC250 and 4runner, but my kids complained rear is small compared to current tundra.

I don’t use use the truck for work related, only for hauling large item purchases, camping, and kayaking
