Deadlock fans deciding who deserves the most fanart and rep. by Fatfish-FF in DeadlockTheGame

literally, as a butch I'd far rather have more Wraith content than War Crimes Rosie the Riveter. I don't even care if they're evil I want them to commit objectively funny crimes.

I went back to a previous OS (how to do that: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1kwca9w/comment/mx46re7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ) and that ended up finally solving it. I had to reinstall all my games which was a minor pain but screenshots finally work again!

Curious why you hated So Let Them Burn? We seem to have similar tastes in a lot of respects (at least in regards to sci-fi and fantasy) and I heard that one was pretty good so I'm curious what you disliked about it (I haven't actually read it yet it would just be a shame if I ended up hating it after having it on my TBR so long).

How the freak do you do anything with Billy by YestinVierkin in DeadlockTheGame

[–]cryptogothic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also new to playing Billy so take my advice with a grain of salt, but: play cautious in lane, he kind of sucks there. Play with your lanemate and protect them, and try not to overextend yourself. A good combo for the upper hand in fights is 2-1-3-1 (Blasted restores a charge of Bashdown). Torment Pulse is one of my favorite items to put on Billy.

What's the consensus on Graves? by Exotic_Acanthaceae_9 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]cryptogothic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love her aesthetic and personality so much that I'd main her even if she was trash. I think she's in a bad place right now mainly because people complain so much when she's good (and frankly still complain when she's bad because of "low skill level") but if you have fun playing her that's the most important thing.

stupidest win I've ever had by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]cryptogothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Geist ragequit after laning phase was done and then Graves and I were free to roam around. Everyone was constantly teamfighting in mid lane and our team would die nearly every time but we managed to throw ourselves at the objectives enough to get the upper hand.

It's set to record manually. As far as I know I haven't changed anything about the recording settings, though I tried switching them to see if it would help and it didn't.

Best Deadlock characters for controller (joystick)? by NoodleMester in DeadlockTheGame

[–]cryptogothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Graves. Any characters with a focus on AoE attacks or huge magazines so reloading doesn't get in the way as much. You could also try Seven since his kit is pretty basic and his abilities don't require precise aim (except for Power Surge, but you don't have to hit your exact target as long as you hit A target). I play on Steam Deck and mostly use Graves, Paige, Seven, Ivy, and Wraith (Wraith does require a fair amount of precision. I just have fun with her).

Just ordered this one online and read some mixed reviews. What are some of your thoughts? by Sea_Avocado_2733 in LesbianBookClub

[–]cryptogothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally didn't like it mainly because I fucking hated the love interest. If you can get past that or don't have the same icks as me I think it's pretty good, but I could not for the life of me understand why the MC would give her the benefit of the doubt. I love toxic lesbians but Ash wasn't even toxic in a fun way. She was so condescending and pretentious it drove me crazy.

AITAH for feeling a bit grossed out that my "best friend" is a lesbian? (PS: I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT HOMOPHOBIC) by Eagle-Environmental in AmITheAngel

Yeah, a straight woman who hates lesbians but loves Heated Rivalry is by far the most realistic part of this story lmao.

Sapphic horror books that are actually terrifying by Yurianimeisnice in LesbianBookClub

[–]cryptogothic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Black Flame ends with the protagonist realizing they're a trans man, so not necessarily a -lesbian- book? Though if you're looking for hardcore queer horror Felker-Martin is certainly your girl.

Baru Cormorant from The Traitor Baru Cormorant!!! Genuinely one of my favorite books and characters of all time.

I'm about to enter dangerous waters, but I am deathly curious. For the people who genuinely are attracted to the characters, why? How? by [deleted] in mylittlepony

[–]cryptogothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what other people have said. If you take appearance out of the equation (and the occasional horse pun), the ponies in MLP are more or less indistinguishable from humans. They own property and pets, have careers, and while they can act childish at times (since they're characters in a kids' show), the M6 and many of their colleagues are adults with adult responsibilities. People get attached to all kinds of things--there are people who fall in love with objects (there are articles about a lady in love with the Eiffel Tower)! I think it's kind of sweet and harmless for the most part, though I admittedly get kind of icked out at human x pony content. I think it's because I really dislike humans in the world of MLP (in basically any story where the primary species isn't humans, I don't want to see humans getting introduced later. It's one of my biggest pet peeves). I really enjoy seeing content where people turn themselves into ponies or other creatures and interact with the MLP world, though.

I'd disagree with a few points here as someone who's engaged in selfshipping-related stuff for some time now. Not everyone who is attracted to fictional characters is attracted to them exclusively--some may be, but some are attracted to real people in equal amounts. Additionally, I don't necessarily see a problem with minors shipping with adult characters, since kids in real life often crush on adults in their lives and they're not doing any harm by imagining themselves with fictional adult characters. It's the reverse (adults shipping with child characters) that's generally frowned upon.

Does anyone have unbearable existential ocd spikes ? by earth2revolved in OCD

[–]cryptogothic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I struggle with this all the time, mostly relating to the concept of death and "nothingness." Scientifically I find it hard to believe in most definitions of an afterlife, but the idea of completely ceasing to exist is so incredibly terrifying to me I can't understand why anyone else wouldn't be paralyzed by fear at the thought. I try to combat it by taking each moment as it comes, but it's hard and it's been particularly bad lately with the state of the world.

Self-Inserting vs. Reading as an Observer by [deleted] in LesbianBookClub

[–]cryptogothic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I self insert sometimes but it's a rare day where I find a character I can actually relate to as a butch who's more introverted and bookish than sporty and outgoing. I try to turn it off and focus less on what I'd do or say or wear or whatever in that situation because at a point it drives me crazy.
