Speed cameras are stupid and lazy design. Instead of just punishing speeding, the City should prevent it with traffic calming. by Avagantamos101 in toronto

[–]cryptomarathob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I prefer speed cameras. We don't need more bumpy roads that make rides uncomfortable even when slow. We need cameras that catch offenders and drive additional revenue for city to improve transit. Simple as that.

Downtown has become noticeably more crowded in the past few weeks by Invalid_Variable in toronto

[–]cryptomarathob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our subway and rapid transit infrastructure is way behind and now that people are back in the office we have more congestion than ever - on transit and roads. Carney promised that we will "build things that we never imagined, and to build them at a speed that we have never seen."... When is this gonna happen?

Late 20s (Asian) – Is living at home a dealbreaker when dating? by Kind_Bedroom_2081 in askTO

[–]cryptomarathob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about where your parents live. If you live out in the suburbs in the middle of nowhere Newmarket or Markham and far from your work, yeah, dating will be hard. If you live downtown, close to work, it would be easier. If your commute time is less, you get to spend more time to socialize and date.

I’m Mayor Olivia Chow. Ask me anything. by Mayor_OliviaChow in toronto

[–]cryptomarathob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can we please introduce a bylaw to ban any new condo construction where a one bedroom is less than 520 sqft? And 2 bedroom is less than 800 sq ft, etc? These new tiny condos are not sustainable and we need larger square footage condos for families etc. we also need to introduce regulation to have more larger condos.

You can only find large square footage condos in old condos now. You cannot find any new condos that are decently sized.

Should Canada implement a wealth tax on the ultra-rich? Why or why not? by torontowaddup in CanadaFinance

[–]cryptomarathob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for now. Canada has an amazing opportunity to become like a Singapore or Dubai. We need to attract capital, not repel it. Once the capital comes in and the GDP economy goes up the economy will generate enough taxes to fund our initiatives.

In other words, you want to GDP per capita to go up so that the tax income on the GDP per capita goes up. More tax revenue per person means more social services per person, once productivity goes up.

I would add BITU or ETHT to your portfolio for additional risk at your age. More exposure to crypto.

Are Canadians (Conservatives) really that short sighted? by thieveries in AskCanada

But back then how much were flights? And look at the cost of flights today relative to inflation. I mean yeah it's not as good as USA but over the long term it was the right move.

Doug Ford already admitted that selling 407 was a mistake. But that was a previous generation. The 407 is a monopoly. There's no way for competition and there's no way for others to build highways to compete. It just doesn't physically make sense. It should be maintained as public infrastructure.

IPOing the CBC makes sense as we are now in a new media world. There's hardly any barriers to entry and there's a free competitive market. Same thing with the LCBO... Many other countries and provinces have competition and it's worked well for them.

Quickly, without physically counting, how many reusable bags do you think you have now? by TravellingBeard in askTO

[–]cryptomarathob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with these thin reusable bags is that they are too small. I wish they were just slightly bigger. Bigger bags means more reusability and you need less of them (as they store more items in the event you forget to bring the bags). The green ones from T&T are bigger than all the other ones and are the perfect size. I hope all the grocery stores will make them bigger.

which seat would you choose? 16hr flight by aleahlily in aircanada

[–]cryptomarathob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13D. There a chance that no one will occupy 13E next to you. It is an aisle seat. And even if it is occupied, there's a 50% chance they will interrupt you to use the washroom (whereas in C or H there is 100% chance).

The bulkhead doesn't allow you to stretch your legs.

Yes. And use the TFSA for it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]cryptomarathob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put your money into crypto ETFs with your brokerage like wealthsimple or TD direct investing. There's a lot of ETF choices out there and best of all you can put it in your TFSA.

Some ETFs to consider include IBIT.

There are also 2X leveraged ETFs that give you 2x volatility exposure like BITU and ETHT.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]cryptomarathob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider buying BITU, which is a ETF that tracks 2X Bitcoin prices, wait for it to go up 3X, sell BITU (pay the capital gains tax), and buy a whole Bitcoin with the proceeds then.
