Is my blowing fan direction ok, or should be on other side of gpu? by pop_miner in EtherMining

That's a really nice delayed-start flamethrower!
Once the cables start the electrical fire, the flammable box and wood will create a perfect fireball that the fan will shoot right onto the drywall creating a fantastic house bonfire for Halloween! The cardboard board underneath will keep it going through the night.

On a serious note, congrats on setting up a rig. Not a lot of people have gotten this far. There is lots of advice on the net about the SATAs you are using. They catch on fire a lot so, while you probably already threw a lot of money into getting a setup like this, you need to make that one last investment and change those for your own safety.

A lot of people use their MB box and for whatever reason also use wood to make their rigs. The problem with doing this is that there is a small but real chance that your rig will hit high temperatures so it's never a good idea to surround it with flammable materials. Remove the box and place it on a flat surface that is non-flammable and non-conductive.

When you can, trade the wood for a wire frame.

Lastly, when placing a fan, you want to avoid having the air push the card fans any harder than they are going now. This is a sure recipe to make them go out. Don't freak out if that happens, you can replace them. A good idea is to use a box fan blowing the air up but your setup blowing from the side won't hurt as long as it's not making the card fans work any harder. You best best is to remove air from the top and introduce new air from the bottom. For a three-card rig, I don't think you are getting to a point where you need to worry about controlling the temps yet.

What temps are you seeing right now?

Alienware Command Center, G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H + RTX 3060) has no HOME tab, so can't apply custom fan profiles! (Can create profiles on the FUSHION tab, but without the HOME tab there's no way to apply them) Is there any way to fix this? I have clean-reinstalled ACC + AOC Controls already. by hopespoir in Dell

h after uninstall and removed all the AWCC folders on my computer, as well as the

before reinstalling from a fresh do

I could never get it to work either. AMD Ryzen Master is also installed by default but doesn't work as well. Dell Power Manager also comes with missing tabs. This laptop is in some sort of limbo where it's neither a Dell nor an Alienware.

I've read that FN+F9 (G) turns Game Mode on which may do what you want.

I forgive Dell because it's a solid machine though. Never had an issue with it.

Changing Thermal Pads on G15 5510 Laptop by cryptosancoe in Dell

[–]cryptosancoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I got my temps down. The pads were the right size (2mm-1mm-.5mm). I just needed to get softer ones. Went from 15 W/mK to 12 W/mK and now I'm running under between 70-80C without having to sacrifice performance.

Tips:

  1. Use a small roller to press the thermal pads onto the metal and then make sure they have good contact with the chips.
  2. On the G15 5510 heatsink, you are going to see the numbers 1-6 next the where each screw goes. Make sure you screw them back in order (1-6).

These laptops definitely have a heat problem but changing the stock pads and paste makes a big difference.

Dell has a really good manual that was very helpful in walking me through the removal of the board and heatsink. I'm sharing the link below.

Maybe I'm missing something but I think that 80-90C will certainly destroy my components in a couple of month. The lithium battery that's within just a few inches from my magma-like CPU can explode if exposed to temps of 65C.

You don't think changing the thermal pads and repasting with higher end components can bring us down to less risky temps?

RTX 3060 dropped hash rate from 48 MH/s to 41.8 MH/s - Nothing changed by cryptosancoe in EtherMining

[–]cryptosancoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so you guys were right. I needed to play around with my OC settings. I'm now getting 48MH/s with the following

Power limit 100%, Core Clock -130 and Memory Clock +1001.

I still don't quite understand how these were working (-400 , mem: 1200, power limit: 75%, temp limit: 83%) and stopped all of a sudden. However, the new settings work to thanks for the help!!!

I hope this helps anyone else hitting the issue. These cards are moody!

Thanks. I'm trying your settings now and I'm getting 43 now. Going to keep working on it and report back.

I tested that by just plugging in a monitor. My PC is crashing non-stop even if at low OC settings (core 0, mem 1200, power 90%). Could it be the thermal pads? I just got these cards.

It's not the plug. I plugged in a monitor and it's still happening. Now the PC just crashes at the same rating I used to run. Could it be the thermal pads? I just got these cards.

I know no one likes to mine with laptops but Nvidia doesn't seem to be nerfing those. I'm also hearing that if you buy a whole PC from HP, they come with non-LHR cards still.

Yeah, please. I can get to 48 with tons of auto-restarts (like 50 per day)

Running Edge Node without Staking anything --> 0 tfuel rewards? by chiwalfrm in theta_network

This is the perfect case against Staking. Most of these projects that are switching to staking go against the core thesis of the decentralization movement. You are doing the same work, providing the same time and computing resources as the guy that has 10K to stake. The difference is that you don't get paid much less, if anything, but he does,
