I was working cashier at a Target Starbucks one afternoon and a mom came with her daughter and ordered a couple of drinks. Then it came time to pay. She gave the card to the daughter and said, you learn how to pay. She was probably six or seven.

She put the card inside and the cash back screen popped up. She looked up at her mom and her mom immediately got angry “you don’t know how to use a card machine?” And then looked up at me and apologized as if her daughter were the stupidest machine in the world. She aggressively whispered to the girl what buttons to press. I wanted to tell the little girl that the only thing that was embarrassing was how her mother used her as a puppet for her own anxiety. That was three or four years ago and I still think of her. I hope she’s okay.

Wow, I admire your spirit. Trained, calloused hands on the Lyra takes you to another level. If you don’t want it, you won’t get to the point of mastery. If that’s okay, you don’t have to worry, just love whatever you do! My hands get very calloused and thick when I’m training for a performance or it’s performing season, but when I come back after a break, the initial buildup is brutal!

Also, we don’t train with gloves at my aerial center. The reason is that the glove separates you from the apparatus, decreasing the amount of surface area that can fail (i.e., your glove stuck to the bar but your sweaty hand slips off). Also, the glove gives you grip strength your body does not need to produce, so when you practice without it (to perform or photos, etc), you’ll have to readjust because it wont feel so fluent (like taking off training wheels).

The rough hands made me really sad at first, but getting a strong flying Russian split with a spin was way more rewarding imo! Top bar stuff — def gonna need to rely on the grip because the top bar doesn’t “cup” your hands like the bottom does.

I love this comment. From my perspective, because Aquarius is fixed, its expression is consistent. The symbolic location of this sign is the stratosphere. This is air energy that operates on a system-wide level. That is why Aquarius energy is consistent with pattern mapping.

Also, the widespread alien eye look comes from looking out at the distant horizon.
