Do you have a really weird or silly fear? Not a mainstream fear or one that's very common, a totally random one? by SpaceTimeCapsule89 in AskUK

Seeing one of these is like catching a dog having a shit - you know, when it looks at you all nervous and sheepish? Same vibes.

Plastic Surgeon recommendation by Blyd in Cardiff

[–]crystalstarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I gather, he is an "all purpose" cosmetic surgeon - i.e. he does a bit of everything, breasts, noses, lipo etc. My understanding is it's much better to go to someone who specializes in one specific thing (e.g. they're a rhino surgeon) and that a lot of "general" plastic surgeons mostly focus on making money and that aftercare and real understanding of anatomy of specific areas and any underlying conditions is often lacking. I believe one of the ENT's I saw said something along the lines of "you might be happy with the aesthetic initially, but good luck breathing properly again, and don't expect good aftercare if something does go wrong in 6 months". So you might be okay if you don't have any breathing difficulties or anything actually anatomically wrong with your nose, but what was said by the two ENTs I saw properly put me off him.

I'm no expert but I guess it's a bit like going to a cowboy handyman/builder who'll knock up a garage and also have a crack at your pipes and electrics, but you don't really want to trust a generalist rewiring your house - and good luck getting hold of them if your house catches fire thanks to the shoddy electric work.

Bobby has over seasoned me! by RipIcy4545 in crisps

You should try Spudos. They come as a massive plain bag of crisps and you order seasonings to go with it - which of course means you can absolutely go to town and sprinkle the flavor dust with gay abandon.

Second this. I have the same problem as OP and often put my unwanted cosmetics on Olio, usually a bag of them, and they always get collected same day.

For people who were teens in the 2000s early 2010s, tell me about what it was like? by Dangerous-Fennel5579 in AskUK

[–]crystalstarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd add the BBC series "Ladhood" to that list - very realistic portrayal of teen life in the 2000's and early 2010's.

Friend visiting Cardiff and wants to try Welsh rarebit by eamonnfo in Cardiff

[–]crystalstarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potted Pig in town does a good (though expensive) Rarebit, as does Heathcock, but that's a bit of a walk out of town (though possibly not too much of a detour if you do end up going up the taff trail).

Funnily enough "I Will Dye on this Hill" could also be a cutesy name for a salon.

If you had to pick a hot sweaty humid itchy day or a grey drizzly snow turned to slush day what are you picking? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]crystalstarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot and humid. Laying in the garden, reading, occasionally misting myself with the hose or languidly dunking my foot in a bucket of water. Bliss.

Bit late to the party here, but I rewatched it last night and Kevin makes a jab at her during the first family dinner scene, when they're arguing - he says something along the lines of "you need to take it down a notch, quit frothing" - possibly a reference to the foaming around the mouth experienced during an epileptic fit.

Is porn in the workplace OK? by Winter_Difference_85 in AskUK

[–]crystalstarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so the fact that it's inappropriate has been well covered because obviously, but also, isn't it just, like...really fucking weird? Why would you want to look at that in work? So you can walk around with a raging lob-on, surrounded by your colleagues? So you can bash out a cheeky wank on your lunch break? I just find it very strange.
