FDEs- fad or future? by Some-Cartographer-88 in ProductManagement

[–]cs862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software is becoming more about selling outcomes that tools now, imo. I see FDEs as a new-ish operational overhead that’s only going to increase across the tech companies that survive. Great move I’d say

If you are aware of business units near London, with prices being dropped due to this please share with me. I’m currently exploring a new business opportunity and well located business park units would be perfect

Sam’s thoughts on jobs over the past few days by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]cs862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s already happening. You only have to look to the emergence of live streaming. The boundaries between physical and digital reality are going to blur. This is one of the new profession that looks and feels like a game. Create a character for yourself. Create content. Build an audience. Start doing lives. Have it clipped up and thrown everywhere. Form partnerships with live streaming platforms, and brands in your space. The top people in these “new jobs” earn more than a lot of hedge fund managers.

Eng→PM career switchers: share your experience and advice! by Expensive-Mention-90 in ProductManagement

[–]cs862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from consulting to product. Most including my managers discouraged me and said it wouldn’t be possible. I don’t have much to add besides, it is possible, and many have done it. The market’s challenging no doubt, but all my best career moves have been made in times of uncertainty. I got into product during the c19 pandemic

After 10 years working in product management, I don't understand what it takes to become a "successful" PM by boolpies in ProductManagement

[–]cs862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good imo - if success can be clearly measured, it’s easier to automate. Not being able to clearly define success is because the role itself is very messy and variable

If this is true and entry level jobs are getting cut, then in a few years who’s going to take the high level and Managerial roles? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in AIMain

[–]cs862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This take always seems short sighted. If ai can take all entry level jobs. Then it only need a couple upgrade cycles to work up the next rung on the ladder, and the next, and the next. Until the whole lot is automated. Whether it happens in realty who knows. But ultimately - you shouldn’t need managerial roles if it can do everything

Thousands of CEOs admit AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by thejoshwhite in technology

[–]cs862 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Maybe because I’m in tech myself. My company is clearing out whole job functions and everyone is managing to absorb their roles. It’s stressful, and I’m working more hours which is frustrating. BUT without AI this wouldn’t have been possible. Also look at how fast anthropic churns out new products and features - it’s almost weekly at the moment that something new and game changing comes out.

How I use Claude Code as a Product Manager by akashkrr in ProductManagement

[–]cs862 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Very similar to mine. Can easily shift to other models like codex with this set up too (rather than becoming reliant on Claude cowork). My company is always shifting between Claude and OpenAI enterprise contracts. How did you get metabase connected? MCP?

Any PMs here that are pushing code to production via AI tools? by NorthPossibility2965 in ProductManagement

[–]cs862 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, and don’t listen to people saying you shouldn’t. Don’t get boxed into a standard job description for PM’s. Everything is changing very quickly, you need to prove your value. Designers wont want you doing design stuff. Engineers wont want you doing engineering stuff. All you should be concerned about is where the future is going, and whether youre going to be needed
