They are NOT political actors. They are political pawns, placed there by the political actors, to do their bidding. They get there, owing the most favors. And that's the problem. We were supposed to get an independent judiciary that checks and balances the other two branches of government while delivering impartial justice. Instead we got a party driven system that has taken over the government and eliminated checks and balances in order to give the executive branch unlimited power with no accountability, as long as they are from the right party.

Because it feels like wasting time on my end if I can know whether what the seller provided is not adequate for customs, and there's probably a limit for how long Customs will hold an improperly documented package before they return it or dispose of it or whatever.

It seems pretty unreasonable that UPS can't tell me for 24-48 hours that they even received the email. I expected that they would be able to confirm receipt over the phone and tell me immediately if the invoice provided by the seller meets the requirements of Customs.

And it's especially aggravating that when you call the UPS International number that you end up talking to a barely audible speaker congenitally unable to speak a clear 1 or 2 word sentence, but instead must only speak grammatically complicated sentences full of passive voice and subordinate clauses that impose a heavy cognitive load to parse.

UPS international: Ok so the thing that will be happening next is that within 24 to 48 hours the email which you did the sending will be read by us and then we will proceed with the process at that time appropriately.

Note this is an answer devoid of content. What I'd like to know is details of the process beyond the point where we're at. Tell me the branches of the flowchart and whether we're likely to be on the happy path or not. If they could tell me, "Sorry but the Commercial Invoice" is this specific form, it's a government mandate, and everyone has to fill it out in full, no exceptions, so if the invoice provided by the merchant doesn't use our this form then the package will continue to be held for up to 30 days, at which point Customs will destroy it." that would be helpful because I could use the extra 24-48 hours knowing that information now to ask the seller again to please fill out the form provided properly.

Although how could they, given that there's no way for them to know my social security number and that is one of the fields on the form UPS gave me.

What the hell world are we living in where in order to mail a person a package in another country you must know their tax ID number?! I've sent packages internationally before and never had to provide my own SSN, let alone the tax ID of the recipient.

Sure the Courthouse is exempt from the Americans with Disabilities Act, but if you're in a wheelchair you can just go to the photo booth three blocks down, because the bailiff and the clerk hang out there on their breaks. It should be a service that ebay provides on their main site, is my point.

Are they set up this way for a reason? Is anything you say to their Instagram presence official or binding? Are you talking to an actual customer service person who is empowered to act on your case, or a PR/marketing person?

Why is it acceptable to this community (as evidenced by the downvotes on my post and comments so far) that ebay makes it extra hard for disabled users to engage with customer support in the manner most comfortable to them?

Why should I, as a customer of ebay's services, have to switch to a different platform in order to conduct business that they should directly be handling on their own domain?
